However, once you get an opportunity, you roll with it, and that’s what these guys are set to do. Here are five Southern Arizona guys that could have breakout seasons:
Montana Neustadter, QB, 6’4″ 185lbs.
Canyon Del Oro HS (C/O 2021)
Neustadter is a dual threat QB that is just figuring out his potential. He has very good speed and is deceiving, yet it is rare for him to be caught in open field. He shows he has the ability to to be a game breaker on any given play with his breakaway speed. He possesses good poise in the pocket and seems to go through his progressions very well. Neustadter displays good footwork in the pocket, as well as the ability to sense pressure and get out to avoid sacks. Neustadter shows very good accuracy on all throws and shows impressive downfield vision. He is an extremely talented kid, so don’t be surprised when he plays lights out for the entire 2020 season. Colleges need to jump on him ASAP.
Adam Brauer Adam Brauer 6'3" | 305 lbs | DL Sabino | 2021 State AZ , OL/DL, 6’3″ 305lbs.
Sabino HS (C/O 2021)
Brauer is a massive kid with a huge upside due to his size and strength. Brauer is a two-way player for Sabino, but excels on the defensive side of the ball. Brauer shows excellent strength and much room to develop as well. He displays a good base and very good power with the ability to plug up gaps immediately. He is a good tackler, as there hasn’t been a ball carrier on film be able to run through Brauer. He is an athletic big guy, as he is also a state qualifying wrestler. Brauer has a ton of potential to develop into a promising lineman, and will have a good opportunity to make his name known this season.
Jack Greenfield, ATH., 6’3″ 190lbs.
Canyon Del Oro HS (C/O 2021)
Greenfield is a talented athlete on both sides of the ball. As a receiver, he is very physical and is your ideal guy to box out defenders and high point balls. He was used mainly as a slot last season, yet he has the outside receiver build and mechanisms which would make transitioning to an outside receiver very easy. He runs good routes and tracks the ball well. On defense, Greenfield can play nearly anywhere. At safety, he can fly up and provide run support and looks like a natural tackler. He can also play outside linebacker and serve as a lethal edge rusher. Greenfield shows good pursuit and is one of the most versatile players out there. Greenfield should have a big role and huge potential to have a breakout season.
Luke Thompson Luke Thompson 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Sabino | 2021 AZ , LB, 6’1″ 215lbs.
Sabino HS (C/O 2021)
Thompson is a great all around LB. Compiling over 100 total tackles last season, Thompson showed his ability to be that guy that offenses want to avoid. Primarily as an outside LB, he showed very good anticipation and instincts. Thompson has shown good lateral quickness and speed by being able to get to the edge to stop outside runs or screens. Thompson possesses excellent play recognition skills and will only continue to build off these throughout the year. He is a good fundamental tackler as he consistently wraps up on all plays. Thompson will look to lead the talented Sabino defense and is definitely prone to have a big season.
William Stemler William Stemler 6'2" | 230 lbs | LB Buena | 2022 State AZ , LB, 6’2″ 230lbs.
Sabino HS (C/O 2022)
As a sophomore last season, Stemler showed his potential to be a legit prospect in the future by racking up over 80 total tackles. Stemler shows good pursuit and takes an excellent path toward the ball carrier. He has shown the ability to run through blocks and blow up plays creating a mess. His strength to stop the run and make excellent reads on run plays at a young age gives him a big upside to build off of as he already shows good football maturity. Stemler could possibly transition into good edge rusher in the future as well. Stemler will continue to get stronger and improve over the next couple years, and should definitely be a name to watch on every college recruiters list.
