We are taking a look at the skill positions on offense. You will see wide receivers, running backs, and athletes, who may have risen their true position where they will play at the next level! Enjoy.
Marselio Mendez, WR, Cretin Derham-Hall/Hitmen (2021)
Mendez also known as “Pops” has had a hot summer in the world of 7on7 football. A 2021 prospect that is wasting no time proving his value to a college program even as a prospect that does not yet have an offer. Mendez is playing with fuel, and showed his strong route running ability to make some key places for the Hitmen, who ended their tournament as runner ups in 18U with much help coming from Mendez. This is a kid that deserves a shot at the next level as a late bloomer.
Ryan Orput, WR, Hinsdale Central (IL)/EFT (2021)
Orput I was told on Sunday defines the sleeper type prospect in Illinois. Orput is one that gets overlooked by the lack of success from Hinsdale Central in recent years which could be a nice grab for a player that is flying under the radar. My first look: Orput plays big man football at 6’4 with strong route running and could move to tight end at the next level based on the measureables he already has built.
Will Schaack, WR, Minneapolis Edison (MN)/Twin Cities Aces (2024)
Schaak is a very young prospect that I have seen a lot of short clips this summer and has a lot of potential. As a first look, Schaak defines the term speedster, and will be a nice addition to the Tomcats program at Minneapolis Edison.

Jamarien Wheeler Jamarien Wheeler 6'2" | WR Minneapolis Washburn | 2021 State MN , Minneapolis Washburn (MN)/Hitmen (2022)
Be careful defenses, if you don’t want to be down six points real quickly you cannot let Wheeler burn by you on any five yard quick slant. Wheeler showed a nice variety of routes for Eric Harrison and TJ Dean’s Hitmen squad on Sunday afternoon. Only two programs have came along with offers, one at the Division I level and another up and coming program in the Northern Sun. This tape is something you will want to see as Wheeler has solid measureables to go along with great speed.
Isaiah Huber Isaiah Huber 5'10" | RB Rochester Century | 2021 State MN , RB, Rochester Century (MN)/Potenza (2021)
A “pure mismatch” is what they say Century’s Isaiah Huber Isaiah Huber 5'10" | RB Rochester Century | 2021 State MN produces for Potenza Sports. He logged one of the fastest 40 times at the Midwest Elite Showcase a few weeks back and is a player that I see as a stock riser when our winter rankings come out in the next few months even though he already is a top 75 prospect in state. This kid running thru the tackles on film is darn near close to a video game when your “break tackle” rating is in the 90s. Huber is one of the those D2/D1 fringe prospects that I think could be a great player in FCS football.
Will Quick, WR, ______ (MN)/Potenza (2024)
“Caught every ball that came his way,” I heard from one coach at the Pylon 7on7 Tournament in Maple Grove. Quick recently made a high school transfer this offseason and we are intrigued to find out where to after playing his freshmen year at Totino-Grace. The measurables look small currently for this current freshmen, but look for him to see another growth spurt in his future to churn those quick legs upfield like a cheetah.
Eli Gillman Eli Gillman 6'0" | 195 lbs | ATH Dassel-Cokato | 2022 State MN , ATH, Dassel/Cokato (MN)/Potenza (2022)
No prospect has made more noise over the Prep Redzone Minnesota on offensive side of the ball over the last several weeks than Eli Gillman Eli Gillman 6'0" | 195 lbs | ATH Dassel-Cokato | 2022 State MN . The new #2 ATH in the state had another strong showing for Potenza Sports. Gillman had a big week last week on the recruiting front hearing from muliple Division II and Division I programs, which I predict will a very long list of schools trying to grab this kid because he is the real deal. One of my two favorite outstate prospects the other being Jack Behning Jack Behning 6'4" | 180 lbs | WR Lester Prairie | 2022 State MN , who got felt the love last week with his first Division I offer from Matt Campbell and Iowa State. Gillman gives you nothing but option after option on both sides of the ball which is why college coaches need to see it this Spring in little Cokato, Minnesota (pop. just under 3000)
Look out for Part Two and Part Three to come out on Sunday and Monday, stay tuned!
