Peyton Himley, Edina (MN)/Potenza (2023)
One of the top defensive backs from Potenza Sports all day was Edina’s Peyton Himley. Himley does a great job with his game awareness as a defensive back and is a playmaker in the making coming out of the Hornets strong Class of 2023. We talked about him at the Midwest Elite Showcase, and I’m sure we will be talking about this prospect even more going forward down the road!
Farris Amegankpoe, Maple Grove (MN)/Twin Cities Aces (2021)
Farris lined up on both sides of the ball for the Aces, but in the end might have found his true spot at the defensive back position even though the film might show otherwise, at wide receiver! What I like about Amegankpoe on film, is the way he high points the football when it comes his way. His first step off the ball is another impressive trait he brings to the table.
Saveon Brown Saveon Brown 6'1" | 195 lbs | DB Thornwood | 2022 State IL , Thornwood (IL)/EFT (2022)
Brown was another standout from the EFT bunch from Sunday at Fernbrook. Brown is a heavy hitter that you don’t want to see in your blind spot when he’s coming at you! His acceleration only gets better with momentum and it’s very easy to see why Division I coaches have started to offer this kid at the next level.
Ramon Arrington II, Robbinsdale Cooper (MN)/Twin Cities Aces (2021)
Do not let this 5’6 cornerback fool you, as Arrington II is one that you need to keep on your radar as he impressed on Sunday. The placement Arrington makes on tape is what stood out to me most as he is the right place, right time type of prospect at cornerback. This is a kid that got swept away by not being able to hit multiple college camps this summer and is not getting the love the via Twitter he should be getting. This kid could a workhorse at the Division II or III levels for your program.
Gannon Rosenfeld Gannon Rosenfeld 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Mankato West | 2022 State MN , Robbinsdale Armstrong/Hitmen (2022)
A prospect that has been working his tail off all summer (I’ve seen it in person plenty of times) and is a newly ranked DB prospect Gannon Rosenfeld Gannon Rosenfeld 6'3" | 220 lbs | DL Mankato West | 2022 State MN , who just transferred to Robbinsdale Armstrong after playing at Providence Academy. The film does not do them justice, as in my opinion he will be in a better system at Armstrong and should be a hot riser come our next 2022 rankings update, just you wait! You just can’t sleep on a 6’2 lockdown cornerback that in my opinion gives me Trae Waynes type vibes, long cornerback that is extremely physical on wide receivers the second that ball is snapped!
Phoenix Fulbright, Larkin (IL)/Twin Cities Aces (2021)
Fulbright was another prospect that stood out for Aces in Maple Grove. A very under the radar prospect with little to no film but left it all on the field in his play for one of the few Twin Cities Aces clubs that hosted the Pylon 7on7 tournament.
Michael Moore Michael Moore 6'2" | DB Minneapolis Edison | 2021 State MN , Minneapolis Edison/Pinnacle (2021)
You would be shocked to see Moore play and hear this: he’s only played football for one year total. His accessibility is what stands out on film and he makes clutch plays in almost every area in on the field. A prospect that has so much room to grow and has a three-sport athlete has the motor to just get keep on going no matter what stands in his way on the football field.
Andrew Sykora, Forest Lake/Twin Cities Aces (2021)
Sykora has quality jets off the snap and on Sunday showed some of that speed you will see on film. A good combo two-way player that you can learn more about in the recruiting report I did on him below!
Jaden Mojica Jaden Mojica 5'10" | 180 lbs | DB Stevenson | 2021 IL , Stevenson (IL)/EFT (2021)
Mojica is such an alert defensive back from Sunday and it’s no surprise Division I programs are starting to take notice on this kid. If the ball is coming near his receiver, he’s going to put his body on the ground to get that ball as he’ll show you all over his film. Also a very solid tackler that plays with a chip on his shoulder, as Mojica currently holds Division II offers.
Tyler Lien, Minnetonka (MN)/Potenza (2022)
Lien started off his afternoon as a victim of Oregon commit Terrance Ferguson Terrance Ferguson 6'5" | TE Heritage | 2021 State CO early on but totally regained his composure for the rest of the afternoon at Maple Grove. Lien was absolutely locked in the rest of the games I watched, locking up plenty of receivers that couldn’t get a step on him at all. As I always say, it’s not how you start it’s how you finish and Lien finished on a high note on Sunday. Not bad for a prospect that joined Potenza just a short week ago.
Michael Olowo Michael Olowo 6'2" | DB Rogers | 2021 State MN , Rogers (MN)/Hitmen (2021)
Minnesota’s #1 DB will be playing his senior season back at Rogers for the Royals after transfer rumors of him moving to Arizona went by the wayside. The fact that our #1 DB in the state doesn’t have a power 5 offer makes me cringe, as the COVID-19 effects are so real. So much height (6’1), so much length, and so much speed to show off. Olowo showed off that big talent in Maple Grove and it’s time to wake up before winter as Michael is still undecided on where he is playing in 2021.
Arzheen Shahin, Moorhead/Twin Cities Aces (2021)
You wouldn’t know it on tape, but besides being a clutch RB for the Spuds, Shahin can play some DB too. One thing I love about 7on7 football is how you can make kids fit in in muliple spots. In Shahin’s case, he prodominenetly plays RB, but after Sunday, expect the Spuds to use him in other spots on the defense too with the speed he brings to the table.
Other Standouts
Bernier Gains, Osseo (MN)/Twin Cities Aces (2022)
No Film Available. Gains was on Twin Cities Aces top DBs list!
Robert Buckingham, Hopkins (MN)/Twin Cities Aces (2022)
I am a big fan of Buckingham’s quick feet. Needs more film on Hudl, as I was a big fan of his game from the clips I was sent! Lockdown corner, that gave up absoulutely zero deep balls on Sunday.
No Film Available.
