The Sea Kings are losing many key players to graduation, but they are returning two Division 1 offensive linemen in Thomas Bouda and Jake Trachtman.
Trachtman announced his commitment to Cal Poly on September 3 and he took a minute to talk with Prep Redzone about his decision.

Interview
What made you want to commit to Cal Poly?
My goal is to play D1 football at the most academically prestigious university I could attend with the added goal of it being funded by an academic scholarship and Cal Poly fit the bill and provided more because of the quality football, coaching staff and perfect location.
Which coaches at Cal Poly did you connect with the most?
Did you take an official visit there before Covid? Or did you do an unofficial one on your own?
No. I visited on my own with one of my best friends and teammates, Tommy Bouda, who also was offered but has since committed to Army West Point.
It’s obviously been an untraditional recruiting season. What did you enjoy most about recruitment?
This is my only time being recruited. So for me, this is traditional. I enjoyed building relationships from so many coaches from a wide range of colleges from around various parts of the country.
How excited are you to get back on the field with your Corona del Mar teammates and defend the CIF championship?
I am super excited. We just completed our first practice tonight—the first time we’ve been together in 180 days. There’s a big target on our back. We lost some major pieces to graduation but this team is loaded with a lot of hidden talent. We relish the opportunity to defend our title.
Thank you so much. I gotta get to bed for an 8 am zoom!
