The recruiting process for this year’s seniors has been unusual. But for Tocchini, a 6-foot-4, 265-pound offensive lineman from Regis Jesuit, it hasn’t been a productive year to date. He’s just had to be proactive in different ways than he normally would, and going the extra mile has never been a problem for Tocchini.
“It’s going well,” Tocchini said. “It’s kind of hard not having camps and everything else with COVID. That’s been a big struggle for us but I’m still talking to coaches every day. I’ve been sending them a lot of tape of me doing pass rush, five-ten-fives, all that good stuff.”
Tocchini said he currently has offers from New Mexico State, Colorado School of Mines and Chadron State.
At one point or another, Tocchini said either he or his coach has been in contact with Fresno State, Colorado State, Wyoming, Arizona, Boise State, Iowa State and San Diego. Lately, Tocchini said he has been talking a lot with Columbia.
A high academic player with a 3.7 GPA who can play multiple offensive line positions including center, Tocchini is one of the top offensive linemen and overall players in Colorado. He has great football and runs well, making him an effective blocker in pass protection and in the run game. He has improved significantly even just this summer while working at Six Zero Strength and on his own and has the frame to increase in both size and strength without sacrificing significant mobility.
Almost certainly headed for the Division-I level, Tocchini said he hopes to continue his football career beyond that and play in the NFL some day.
“My dream is to play in the NFL,” Tocchini said. “I’m sure any school can help you get there if you work hard enough. I want to also get a good education in case that doesn’t work out. Almost every coach I’ve talked to has experience bringing guys into the NFL and some of them even worked at the combine and even coaches in the NFL for a little bit. So I know wherever I go, they’ll help me follow my dream.”
While he continues to make every effort to garner more offers, Tocchini is trying to remain positive about the prospect of a spring season with his Regis Jesuit teammates. He was a star for the Raider last fall, helping the team rush for over 2,100 yards.
