Continue ReadingWe have recently seen several members of the 2021 class announce their verbal commitment to where they will continue their academic and athletic careers. That has led me to look into which 2021 student-athletes still have their recruitment open, what offers they currently have, and think about where I could see them ending up. So, I decided to turn that thought into an article where I will write out exactly what I was thinking above. I will go through the top remaining 2021 in our Prep Redzone Wisconsin rankings, list the offers of players who haven’t committed, and then predict where I think they would go if they had to commit today. Quick disclaimer before we dive in: I have not talked to any of theses athletes. This is more of a fun, prediction article. I have no insider information. These are all my own personal predictions. Let’s get started!
Caleb Frazer Caleb Frazer 6'1" | 195 lbs | RB Kimberly | 2021 State WI , RB- Kimberly: Offers from Northern Iowa, South Dakota, Illinois State, Minnesota State- Mankato, Ball State, Western Illinois. Frazer is our highest rated 2021 athlete that hasn’t announced a commitment coming in at #13 overall. With him comes several D1 and elite D2 offers to choose from. Each of the six offers above would give Caleb an excellent opportunity to compete making this a very hard choice for me. With that said, right now I would predict that if he had to commit today it would be to Northern Iowa. They were the first D1 to offer him. He has a former teammate on their current roster, and he has gone on a visit to see their facilities in early March 2020. All these things make me feel that he would have a good comfort level with them right off the bat. Prediction: Northern Iowa.
Clayton Bishop Clayton Bishop 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB Indian Trail | 2021 State WI , DB- Indian Trail: Offers/ Top 4 include Air Force, North Dakota, North Dakota State, and South Dakota State. Clayton comes in as our 14th overall player and 3rd best DB in the state of Wisconsin’s 2021 class. The offer sheet matches the ranking too! Clayton holds some very strong offers that would put him in the national spotlight and provide an excellent education. Clayton has announced that his recruitment is still open, but he is focusing on those top four teams listed. I believe that if he had to commit right here, right now that Bishop would commit to North Dakota State. NDSU does such a great job of going out and gathering the top talent across Minnesota and Wisconsin. I predict they would continue that here as they land one of the best defensive backs the state of Wisconsin has to offer. Prediction: North Dakota State
Jim Schwaab Jim Schwaab 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Catholic Memorial | 2021 State WI , OL- Catholic Memorial: Offers from Fordham University, LeHigh University, Northern State, Air Force, Upper Iowa, Winona State, Bemidji State, Southwest Minnesota State, Minnesota- Duluth, Minnesota State, Mankato, and Illinois State. Schwaab currently ranks as our 17th overall prospect for the Wisconsin 2021 class and he has earned some impressive offers. When I go through each there is a clear decision that has to be made. Does he want to go far from home or stay within a few hours? If he wanted to go far from home then I could see him going with one of the D1 offers from the Air Force, Fordham, or LeHigh. However, I’m going to make my prediction off the decision to stay closer to home. So for my prediction I choose the perennial D2 powerhouse that is Minnesota State- Mankato. They have been on a tear the last handful of years, it is a strong program educationally speaking, and they have even produced NFL talent. So, I think it is a great combination of everything he may be looking for. Prediction: Minnesota State- Mankato
Ben Kujawa Ben Kujawa 6'3" | 275 lbs | DL Milwaukee Marquette | 2021 State WI , DL- Marquette: Offers from Butler University, St. Thomas University, University of Dayton, seven D2 schools. Ben has been one of the most sought after commodities in the state over this summer. He currently holds roughly 10 offers from D1 and D2 programs. It is well deserved too. Kujawa has the size, speed, and strength to play at any level that he has been offered. It is because of the talent that if I was to predict where Ben would commit today it would be to the newest member of the D1 level in St. Thomas University. St. Thomas has been in the list of offers from several of the top trench players in the state of Wisconsin and, based off our rankings, Ben should be their top target. Prediction: St. Thomas University
Austin Dahlke Austin Dahlke 6'1" | 190 lbs | LB Edgar | 2021 State WI , LB- Edgar: Offers from St. Thomas University, Augustana, Valporaiso, Northern Michigan, University of Mary, and Bemidji State. I think that Austin’s recruitment may just be starting to heat up. On September 4 Austin received an offer from D1 St. Thomas University. He clearly has the talent to play at that level as he is one of the best LBs in the state, no matter the class. With a strong senior season I could see other big schools that he has already visited make offers as well. However, since they haven’t I have to make my prediction without those schools as options. So, my prediction for Austin if he committed today would be to St. Thomas University. He has the traits to develop to turn him into an eventual starter for them. Prediction: St. Thomas University
Caden Nelson Caden Nelson 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Waunakee | 2021 State WI , QB- Waunakee: Offers from Minnesota State- Mankato, Bemidji State, and Loras College. I have spent a lot of time watching Caden’s tape throughout the summer and I am very confident that he has what it takes to play at the D2 level and the offer sheet so far supports that. This gives me two options for my “if he was to commit today” commitment prediction. Mankato or Bemidji State. Either would be an excellent choice, but in the end I predict that Caden would choose Bemidji State today. Caden would be able to go in and compete from day one and when he got the chance I am confident he would help make that team better. Now, I do believe we will see more offers come in for the strong armed QB from Waunakee, but right now if he declared today I would go with Bemidji State. Prediction: Bemidji State
Matteo Bonnin Matteo Bonnin 6'3" | 210 lbs | WR Hudson | 2021 State WI , WR- Hudson: Offers from South Dakota State, Illinois State, South Dakota, Northern State, Southwest Minnesota State, Minnesota State- Mankato, North Dakota, and Minnesota- Duluth. Matteo might be the most under recruited player in the state. Yes, he has several D1 offers, but the fact that he doesn’t have any from the FBS level is shocking. The kid can absolutely fly and can jump out of the gym. He has all the traits you look for in a high school receiver prospect, yet none of the big schools have come knocking yet. They are missing out. Going off his current offers, if Matteo was to commit today I would go with the best team that has offered him because that is what he and his skill level deserves. In my eyes, that would be South Dakota State University. He could become a real game changer for the Jackrabbits. Prediction: South Dakota State
Aidan Enneking Aidan Enneking 6'4" | 235 lbs | TE Sussex Hamilton | 2021 State WI , TE- Sussex Hamilton: Offers from Mount Union, Valporaiso, Winona State, Northern State, Minnesota State- Mankato, and many others. Enneking is going to be a steal for a team. He has all the size you could ask for, he is a strong blocker, and is an effective receiver. I am very confident that he can handle his own at the D2 level. I almost want to predict that he would go to the D3 powerhouse of Mount Union, though. They are his newest offer so I don’t think he has quite the connection to the program to the point that I would predict that is where he would go if he committed today. Where I do think he would go if he committed today is Minnesota State- Mankato. Mankato is a perennial power in the D2 landscape recently, he is one of the best at his position in the state so he should be high on their list of wants, and it helps that his teammate, Liam Wrench Liam Wrench 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Sussex Hamilton | 2021 State WI , committed to them in late August. Prediction: Minnesota State- Mankato
Malachi Munoz Malachi Munoz 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Sheboygan Falls | 2021 State WI , OL- Sheboygan Falls: Offers from Valporaiso, Northwestern College, University of St. Francis, Mayville State, Culver- Stockton, Graceland University, Carthage College, St. Norbert’s College. Munoz has been a popular prospect since the spring as he has piled up several offers ranging from D3 up to D1. This is the toughest decision that I have had to make in this prediction article. I don’t think he is done receiving offers yet, but with what he has so far I predict that Malachi would commit to St. Norbert’s College right now. St. Norbert has offered several very talented players in our Prep Redzone Wisconsin rankings and they seem to have the attention of a lot of them. If they could land Munoz that would be a huge win for them in the D3 recruiting market. With the skillset that Munoz has to offer he would be able to come in and provide exceptional competition. He has the size, length, strength, and athleticism you want to see at the position. Prediction: St. Norbert’s College
Zach Wallace Zach Wallace 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Burlington | 2021 State WI , RB- Burlington: Offers from Minnesota- Duluth and Bemidji State. So far Zach looks like he is shaping up to be a steal for a college team down the road. He is a powerful runner with impressive contact balance. It is not easy to get him on the ground, especially with just one defender. Pair that with the speed to pop off big plays and you get an athlete that should have a longer list to choose from for this exercise. I believe he will earn the recognition he deserves this season when he breaks out with a dominant senior season. For my prediction, I’m going to go with Minnesota- Duluth. They are a very competitive program year in and year out and they are also the first team to show that they believe he can play at the D2 level. That can go a long way. Prediction: Minnesota- Duluth
