The Cardinals capitalized on the first play from scrimmage with a pick-6, but that lead was short-lived as the Stallions cruised to a 48-7 Homecoming win.
A brief evaluation of the defensive highlights in the contest:
St. Charles
#22 Fred Nimely (Jr.) DB, 5’10, 180–Provided the Cardinals with their only lead and points of the contest, returning a Whit Hobgood bubble pass that was bobbled back for a 35-yard interception for a touchdown. Nimely read the play well and instead of going for a big hit, he broke down under control, trusted his hands, and used his instincts to finish the play.

DeSales
#5 Noah Gales (Sr.) LB, 5’10, 185–Gales provided key plays in parts of the game. The first was a second quarter forced fumble that he had the awareness of how the receiver was holding the ball, make the appropriate motion toward the ball, and jarred it loose. #28 Quintell Quin Quintell Quin 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Columbus St Francis | 2021 State OH n (Sr.) LB, 6’, 220–It doesn’t matter if the Stallions are on offense or defense, going more than a series without hearing Quinn’s name as part of the play in some or fashion was rare. In the muck, he was able to decipher the battle in the trenches and provide solid, textbook tackles when he was within sight of the ball. His play was another reason why he was able to verbally commit to Ohio University.
