“It’s been a blessing to be able to play my senior year,” Grant said. “Even though every week isn’t guaranteed because of COVID, I’m making the best of the opportunity.
“Personally, it’s bene nice because I didn’t see myself playing football against after breaking my collarbone. But I’m only pleased with wins and losses. It’s a team sport at the end of the day and I go to battle with my brothers, not just myself.”
The Warriors are coming off a thrilling 74-50 victory over GMG after opening the year with a 50-36 setback to Gladbrook-Reinbeck.

“The way I prepared for this season was by watching a lot of film on my favorite players currently playing,” Grant said. “Then applying what I see to my game. Especially because I made the switch from wide receiver to quarterback this year. So far, it’s been going great for our team. My guys trust me and I trust them even more. The confidence we have after these first two weeks is unreal.”
It was all taken away from Grant though during his freshman season.
“I broke it really bad,” he said. “The doctor didn’t think he could fix it and he recommended that we just didn’t do surgery. I never would’ve stepped on the field or the court again, so (the injury, surgery and recovery) was crazy and unforgettable.”
Grant admits that the summer was “a bummer” because of the restrictions placed on events due to COVID.
“Especially after planning everything out, it shot me down when I heard everything was getting cancelled. but the Barnstormers gave me an opportunity to show my skills on the basketball court,” he said. “I still wish I was able to get to some football camps and show these coaches what I can do.”
As for his future, Grant wants to compete on the collegiate playing field.
“It’s always been dream to go to school and play a sport,” he said. “I love every sport I play: football, basketball and track. Being able to do those at the next level would be awesome! I’m just looking for an opportunity to show my talents and hard work.”
