More attention than ever before has been placed on this spot – and you can see each and every year more big time line talent is finding a way to land on some of the top college programs in the country.
With a huge shot-in-the-arm from IMG Academy that has brought national talent to Florida, other areas have caught on – and with more camps devoted to developing linemen – you are seeing high-level talent that Florida colleges are using from here instead of having to go to other areas of the country to find line talent.
This junior class fully reflects how the line position has changed in the state – and you will see these five gifted young men who have been hearing from colleges and universities throughout the country over the past year.
Julian Armella Julian Armella 6'6" | 300 lbs | OL Miami Christopher Columbus | 2022 State FL , OT, 6-6, 300, Miami Christopher Columbus. An All-American before he ever reached high school, here is a two-year varsity starter, who moves south into Miami-Dade County after leading St. Thomas Aquinas. This is big time player who has been learning plenty – and following in the footsteps of his father, a one-time Florida State University standout. Gives the Explorers yet another gifted big man up front.

Tyler Booker, OT, 6-4, 290, Bradenton IMG Academy. Easily one of the most talented prospects in this class, here is an amazing football player who brings so much to the table – as a football player and as an athlete. He is agile, quick and strong. Has two full years to improve on what is already very impressive. Keep your eye on this young man this season and beyond.

Preston Brown Preston Brown OL Fort Walton Beach | 2022 FL , C/G, 6-2, 300, Fort Walton Beach. This versatile football talent is virtually hidden in Florida’s Panhandle, but this is truly someone who will have a breakout year in 2020 – mainly because he is getting bigger, stronger and more mature. His ability to play a number of positions up front will only enhance what he already has over the next two years. Plays this game with plenty of passion and is always willing to learn.

Jeremiah Jackson Jeremiah Jackson 6'3" | 275 lbs | OL Lakeland Kathleen | 2022 State FL , OG, 6-3, 275, Lakeland Kathleen. One of the most athletic line prospects in the class, here is a strong, quick and very impressive football talent who combines skill with knowledge of being up front. Already showed that he can more than handle himself from a physical standpoint. Turned out to be a very impressive wrestler as well, advancing to the state tournament last spring. Keep your eye on this young man. There are big things in store for him over the next two seasons.

Josiah Lancaster, OT, 6-5, 325, Plant City. Part of a huge line that the Raiders have put together. Watch him play and you will be amazed at how this young man moves that large frame around the field. While he is still learning to play the position, watch him over the next two seasons as he gets his body right, matures and continues to learn. If everything falls into place for this impressive talent, he can start to dictate his own future. He is someone who listens to what is told – and that with any athlete is a dividing line between being successful and being average.
