They are the leaders of the offense and can completely change the dynamic of a season for any given team. Passaic County has it figured out at the position. Here are some quarterbacks to watch in the area.
Andrew Butler Andrew Butler 6'4" | QB DePaul Catholic | 2021 State NJ (2021) | DePaul Catholic
Butler is one of the top quarterback prospects in the state. The 6’5 signal caller finished with 28 touchdowns in his junior season. Entering the 2020 season, Butler is the top quarterback in the county and one who will have eyes on him all over the recruiting scene.
Kyle Vellis (2022) | Clifton
Clifton won seven games last season behind a sophomore quarterback. They ran the ball well and Vellis proved that he could take care of the football. At a young age, that is important. Ball security is something that takes some time to come into a quarterback’s game and Vellis has secured it early. This is a good sign moving forward.
Jeremyiah Johnson (2021) | Passaic
Johnson will take significant steps as a senior. He took the starting role as a junior and ran with it. Passaic will use Johnson as a duel-threat and rely on him to make plays all over the field this season.
Todd Geyer (2021) | Lakeland Regional
Geyer scored three touchdowns on the ground as a junior but his threat using his are was always there. Lakeland put trust in their quarterback to make plays and not turn the ball over and that is what he did.
Xander Colon (2022) | Manchester Regional
Colon did not show much in the run game but he showed flashes of turning into a strong leader on the field. He is a breakout candidate heading into the 2020 season. As a sophomore, Colon was a reliable option under center and that puts Manchester in a good position for the upcoming season.
