There will be a ton of good wide receivers, including in the junior class. Let’s take a look at some under-the radar junior wide receivers that can make an impact this year.
Elijah Steward Elijah Steward 6'0" | 165 lbs | WR Holy Spirit | 2022 State NJ , Holy Spirit – Steward had a solid sophomore season with 44 receptions for 670 yards and 10 touchdowns. He caught three touchdowns against Kingsway on a five-reception, 99-yard performance. Steward caught eight balls for 78 yards in the season opener against Mount St. Joseph out of Maryland. He had four receptions for 70 yards and two scores against St. Mary (Rutherford) last November. Steward closed out the season on a strong note, as he totaled six receptions for 127 yards and a TD in a 38-0 shutout of St. Joseph (Hammonton) in the Non-Public, Group 2 final last December. Steward can make catches in tight windows and he’s reliable on deep routes. Expect him to make some more noise in his junior season.
Logan Blake Logan Blake 6'6" | WR Delaware Valley | 2022 NJ , Delaware Valley – Blake is a player who can make quite a leap this season for Delaware Valley. He caught 24 passes for 300 yards and six touchdowns last year. He scored two touchdowns against Roselle and then one each against Metuchen, Bernards, North Plainfield and Gov. Livingston. Against Gov. Livingston, Blake finished with seven receptions for 80 yards.
Christian Ashe, Bayonne – Ashe had a productive sophomore season at Bayonne. He caught 30 receptions for 606 yards and three touchdowns, scoring in games against Bloomfield, Passaic and North Bergen. In a win over Bloomfield last September, Ashe made four catches for 144 yards and a TD. In a tight loss to Passaic, he caught five balls for 102 yards and a score. In a dominating win over North Bergen last November, Ashe finished with four receptions for 124 yards and a TD.
Makhi Thompson, West Windsor-Plainsboro South/North – Thompson finished with 47 receptions for 738 yards and seven touchdowns last year for the West Windsor-Plainsboro South-North co-op program. He had eight receptions for 124 yards and two scores against Hamilton West last season. Thompson totaled six receptions for a whopping 142 yards and two scores in a meeting with Hightstown last October. Thompson could be in for a strong junior season.
Chris Corbo Chris Corbo 6'3" | WR West Essex | 2022 State NJ , West Essex – Corbo has potential to make some strides in his junior year at West Essex. As a sophomore, he finished with 28 receptions for 437 yards and three touchdowns. He hauled in TDs against Hanover Park, Lincoln and Sparta. Corbo’s top performance came in that game against Hanover Park where he caught five balls for 97 yards.
JoJo Bermudez JoJo Bermudez 5'10" | WR Cedar Creek | 2022 State NJ , Cedar Creek – Bermudez is coming off 900 reception yards, 15 total touchdowns and 1,150 all-purpose yards for Cedar Creek. He can go the distance at any point in a game. Bermudez has tremendous speed and he’s a top slot receiver. He can be used on handoffs and trick plays. Bermudez is a Division I talent and should only get better with more experience.
