What makes them special, however, is their desire to win the battle of trench warfare. Here are six warriors from the Buckeye state that thrive on winning the battle up front.
Toby Wilson Toby Wilson 6'3" | 270 lbs | OL Olentangy | 2021 State OH 6’3” 280 Olentangy C/OG 2021
Toby is a versatile offensive lineman that may be best suited for the center position at the next level. He has good quickness off the ball and a great first punch. Wilson is an agile lineman that blocks well in space when leading on sweeps and tunnel screens. As a center, he can reach a one technique with ease and can chip off to the second level when necessary. Toby really shows toughness by the way he finishes blocks. He is also a solid pass protector in limited space.
Gavin Rohrs Gavin Rohrs 6'4" | 300 lbs | OL Marysville | 2022 State OH 6”3” 285 Marysville OT 2022
Rohrs is a real mauler at the line of scrimmage. He is a strong and powerful offensive tackle that often dominates opposing defensive ends. Locks on and sustains blocks due to his vice grip like hands and leg drive. Rohr excels at run blocking by getting consistent movement at the point of attack. Gavin is a competitive offensive tackle that will probably be moved inside to the guard position at the collegiate level. University of Akron just recently made an offer, look for more to follow.
Thomas Aden Thomas Aden 6'2" | 285 lbs | OL St Edwards | 2021 State OH 6”2” 286 Cleveland St. Eds OG 2021
Even though Aden isn’t the tallest of offensive lineman, his tenacity more than makes up for it. He absolutely refuses to let the defender he is assigned to get to the football. Thomas has quick feet and moves well in space whether pulling, trapping, or leading upfield. Coaches never have to tell Aden to go till the whistle blows, it’s instinctive to him. Even though he needs to play a little lower to get better leverage, he takes the fight to the opposition every play. Aden loves the physical nature of the game.
Ryan Iiams Ryan Iiams 6'2" | 280 lbs | OL Springboro | 2021 State OH 6’2” 280 Springboro OT 2021
Ryan is a good at the fundamentals of offensive line play. He keeps his shoulders square when base blocking, getting to the second level, reach blocking, and when combination blocking. He plays with proper leverage and will only get better with continued strength and agility training. Iiams controls his man by driving his feet and keeping pressure on the defender. His athleticism is shown by his ability to sustain blocks on the perimeter.
Ashton Montgomery Ashton Montgomery 6'3" | 300 lbs | OL St. Ignatius | 2022 OH 6’2” 300 C Cleveland St. Ignatius 2021
Montgomery is a stout offensive center that uses his 6’2” to his advantage in terms of leverage and power. He owns both ‘A’ gaps and is in control whether a man, gap, or zone blocking scheme. Ashton does a great job of getting into the frame of defensive linemen and using his hands and hips to torque the opposition. He finishes run plays and is a very solid pass defender in the middle.
Tommy Bailey Tommy Bailey 6'4" | 260 lbs | OL Gahanna Lincoln | 2021 State OH 6’4” 270 OT Gahanna Lincoln 2021
Bailey has the frame coaches are looking for in an offensive lineman. He is especially impressive as a pass protector. His long arms are a huge asset in terms of shocking the n controlling an edge pass rusher. He is agile with good feet and doesn’t get beat on the edges in terms of pass rush. In the run game, Bailey engulfs shorter defensive linemen. Needs to play a little lower when run blocking, but his athleticism usually makes up for any technical mistakes. Tommy is a real gem and can develop into an outstanding collegiate lineman.
