One of the best week 1 match- ups in the entire state of Georgia occurred when Valdosta High School met Warner Robins last Saturday. This game had its share of big plays for both football programs, and it also displayed flashes of various talented football players that could play at the next level. When the dust settled, Valdosta found itself on top with a final score of 28-25. This close win is even more impressive due to the fact that Warner Robins is coming off of its third season in a row in which the program found themselves in the state championship game.

During this match-up, one player stood out more than the others. The game ball for this match-up is awarded to Valdosta QB, Jake Garcia. Garcia, who is committed to USC finished at 22-35, for 340 yards, 2TD’s, and 1 interception. This performance comes after Garcia’s transfer to Valdosta, from the state of California, due to his desire to play another high school football season before he enters into college next season.

The game against Warner Robins was undoubtedly close, and what separated Garcia’s performance from other players is the fact that he led Valdosta to a win
