Julian Dugger – Penn Hills – QB: The Freshman sensation had his first scrimmage vs Central Catholic, and then his first game vs North Allegheny, arguably the two best programs in Western PA. Though Penn Hills lost last week, the Freshman looked poised and under control the entire game. He was never flustered. A couple times a snap went over his head; he kept calm, kept his eyes down field and made a great throw. The timing he was throwing in was also stellar. He kept the defense honest with his feet as well. The south paw will win a lot of games throughout his career.
Brad Birch – Jeannette – QB: One of the games of the week in the state for the smaller classifications was Jeannette vs Clairton. Under center was freshman Brad Birch. He diced up Clairton’s secondary for three TDs. He moved in the pocket well, showed poise, and was reading the defense well and delivering throws. He showed escapability in the pocket and threw well on the run. He has a lot of traits you dont see in Freshman QBs. He delivered throws on time and put the ball in places where only his WR could get it.
