After their Week Four tussle, it was revealed that both Westerville North (Division I) and Canal Winchester (Division II) will vie for the state championship in their respective divisions. But before then, both teams met at The Locke for an OCC tussle. The visiting Wildcats (3-1) came away with a 21-7 victory over the Indians (1-3). Here is who stood out in the contest offensively for both squads:
Westerville North
# 24 Sylvester Bockarie (Sr.) RB, 5’6, 165 — Small and compact, Bockarie does not take long to get downhill. Once he hits the second and third levels, it is at a top-level speed as he is decisive on where he wants to go next. He can show patience when necessary and has no issues with keeping his feet moving after initial contact.

# 8 Wyatt Buxton (Jr.) QB, 6’, 165 — Buxton has a nice, compact throwing motion. Velocity and accuracy is above average, and he has good field vision, understanding when to throw or when to plow ahead.

# 6 Coby Darlington (Sr.) WR, 5’7, 155 — Demonstrated very good speed and route-running ability against the Indian secondary. His reward was a pair of receiving touchdowns. Also a threat on special teams.

Canal Winchester
# 42 Stephan Byrd Stephan Byrd 6'0" | 200 lbs | RB Canal Winchester | 2022 State OH (Jr.) RB, 6’, 200 — Big, bruising back with very good speed. Second time in as many years that I’ve had the opportunity to watch him play. He has the ability to shed tacklers with ease if they don’t fit up correctly. Considered one of the best backs in central Ohio, if not the entire state.

# 15 Reese Musick (Jr.) QB, 6’, 160 — Musick’s mannerisms are very Tim Tebow-like on the field without Tebow’s physical measurables when he was coming out of high school. Left-handed, more run-minded than pass-minded in RPO situations. Has plenty of room to grow at the position.

# 53 Jayden Lewis (Sr.) RG, 5’11, 235 and # 64 Landon Talbott (Sr.) LG, 6’, 220 — Canal Winchester provided a variety of looks offensively, shifting from the spread to a flexbone/wing-T mid-series. Usually the latter formations indicated some sort of trap/option play. Both guards were able to open the holes for Byrd and provide good technique early in the game.
