WR: Evan Leake, Mount Vernon, 5’11 200 2021
Evan possesses big-play potential when the ball is in his hands (4.53 40, 3.98 Shuttle); he can change direction and find the open lane with pull-away speed. He runs low to the ground uses his lower body strength to (Squat 405) fight for extra yards. His YAC ( Yard After Catch) popped out to me, and for wide receivers, it’s an essential attribute to have when wanting to play on the next level.
WR:Chris Stinson, West Aurora, 6’5 185 2022
Has the size of any big school is looking for at 6’5, which gives him a unique skill when high pointing the ball while using his big hands to catch through the opposing defender. Physical play at the line runs good routes and gets open while tracking the ball with high efficiency. Blocking ability is reliable; he locks on and drives through the whistle.
WR: Camden Robbins, Fairfield, 6’2 1/2 180, 2022
If you haven’t heard of him, you will soon enough; this young man has a 36″ Vertical and runs a sub 4.5, very physical at the point of attack, and has excellent hands hauls in contested balls very well. He is getting looks from Memphis at the moment, so that should tell you he has a game. High IQ for the game; you can see him go through the progressions of the play.
WR: Stevern, McCall, Cahokia, 5’10 180, 2021
A twitchy fast(40 4.5) physical (BP 280 Squat 425 Clean 275) wide receiver Stevern plays with a lot of passion while having a hight motor, and this only materializes into making plays for extra yards. Great hands, which is evident as he is the Punt/Kick Returner for the Comanches. Has the field vision to find the open lanes in traffic with acceleration to make use of it.
WR: DeMarcus Funchess, Carbondale, 6’3 175,2022
Let’s start with the frame 6’3 with some weight behind it at 175, he uses his quickness, speed, and pursuit ability with excellent tackling technique, honing in on any ball in the air. Seemed always to be striping the ball away, which bodes well for a WR who understands the importance of ball security; this is as a sophomore. Going into the spring, I’m not going to be surprised to see him lining up at the X in the Terrier offense.
WR: Corbin HIckey, Johnston City, 6’1 170 2022
What stood out the most was his patience to let the play develop then going on the attack. Strong good hands combined with great route running. He has gotten stronger and faster from his sophomore to the junior campaign. We will see how this all translates for him in the spring.
WR: John Brown III, Chicago Mount Carmel,5’8 150,2023
John had significant impacts on the field by leading the team in Interceptions (3) and pass deflections (6). At WR, he started in the slot position mostly as a downfield blocker; he can run routes very well and get to the point of attack quickly. The big eye-popper was his constant motor, always moving.
