Bode Dunn, South Hunterdon: South Hunterdon snapped a 10-game losing streak after defeating Manville 21-7 in Week 3. The Eagles scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to pull away. Dunn, a sophomore, was key in this game, as he had a 40-yard fumble return for a touchdown, and he made two interceptions. South Hunterdon will look to make it two in a row when it meets Voorhees on the road this week.
Adekunle Shittu, Edison: Shittu recorded 13 tackles, two sacks and forced a fumble as Edison took down New Brunswick, 24-7, on Oct. 16. A two-way lineman, the sophomore was a force on both ends and has been key in Edison’s 2-1 start. He has four sacks in three games on defense. Edison takes on North Brunswick this week.
Joseph Crifasi, Becton: Becton is off to a 3-0 start and has not surrendered a single point in three games. The team has shutout wins over Cresskill, North Arlington and Wood-Ridge, outscoring the three opponents 114-0.
In a 42-0 shutout of Cresskill in Week 3, Crifasi did damage in the air and on the ground. He completed 80 percent of his passes and threw a 14-yard pass to Sonny Ragusa. He also ran for 143 yards on 24 carries with three scores, finding the end zone on a pair of 1-yard runs, and an 18-yard run. Becton is idle this week.
Jayden Shwed, Hawthorne: Shwed ran for 154 yards on 33 carries with a 3-yard TD run as Hawthorne edged Pompton Lakes, 7-6, on Oct. 17. Hawthorne improved to 3-0 with the win. The team is scheduled to play at Glen Rock this week.
Joe Dawson, Morris Hills: Morris Hills also improved to 3-0 following a one-point win, slipping past Madison, 37-36, this past Saturday. Dawson ran for 186 yards on 13 carries with TD runs of 34 and 68 yards. Morris Hills meets Mendham this Saturday.
