Thirty-two teams remain standing as we embark on the second week of the playoffs here in Iowa.

Chilly temperatures greeted those that battled it out last week to advance, and that will likely be the case again around the state.

But on the gridiron, the action should be hot and intense as everybody wants to take that next step towards making the UNI-Dome.

Here's a look at the matchups involving north-central Iowa teams this week in eight-player prep football:

Kingsley-Pierson at Newell-Fonda

Another rematch awaits Newell-Fonda in the second round of the playoffs, as the Mustangs host Kingsley-Pierson.

During the regular season, Newell-Fonda earned a 32-22 victory to improve to 10-1 vs. the Panthers in the past 11 meetings.

Led by talented senior dual-threat quarterback Gabe Sievers, the Mustangs continue to rack up the points, as they have scored over 50 in each of the past two games. Sievers has thrown for 713 yards and rushed for exactly 713 more with 24 combined touchdowns.

But the defense has also been tough, allowing just 12 total points over the past two weeks.
