However, these 5 guys proved to be that premiere back and showcased some serious talent in week 4. Take a look at the top 5 running backs of the week:
Jacob Cisneros Jacob Cisneros 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Boulder Creek | 2021 State AZ , Boulder Creek HS (C/O 2021)
Cisneros went off for 250 yards and 4 TD’s on the ground while adding another 113 yards receiving, giving him 363 total yards to beat a tough Mountain Ridge squad. He possesses very good speed with good vision and can cut on a dime, giving him constant big play ability. He accelerates through the hole exceptionally and shows good second level speed. He runs aggressive as he took a pitch on an option, cut upfield, and carried 3 guys on his back for an extra 7 yards. He is a huge threat in the pass game as well, as he lined up as an outside receiver and snagged about a 35 yard vert over the DB. Cisneros athleticism is off the charts, and could definitely be a top vote for the Arizona player of the year.
Jeryll Mcintosh Jeryll Mcintosh 6'0" | 220 lbs | RB Desert Edge | 2022 State AZ , Desert Edge HS (C/O 2022)
McIntosh racked up 279 yards and 2 TD’s on the ground to hand Ironwood their first loss of the season. He is a very physical back, as he continues to run through defenders and lay them down. He is your power back type with a thick, strong build at 6’1″ 220lbs. McIntosh is a bruiser, yet he did show some flashes of shiftiness against Ironwood on a few runs. He had a monster run when he was backed up on his own end zone, carried the ball up the gut, bounced off about 4 tacklers and ran free for about 35 yards. He has excellent ball security through the hole, and continues to mature every week. He is definitely a top Junior to get on your radar.
Max Davis Max Davis 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Highland | 2021 State AZ , Highland HS (C/O 2021)
Davis had a solid night with 207 yards rushing with 4 TD’s, while adding another 27 yards receiving and one TD. Davis had one of he best plays of the year when he burst through a hole up the gut, then hurdled the safety in open field to then burn past the Perry defense for six. Davis has very good top end speed and stretches the edge very effectively. He is an elusive back as he consistently slips and weaves through small openings and defenders for big play ability. Davis is a major key to the high scoring Highland offense by being a legit game changer.
Jared Williams Jared Williams 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Chaparral | 2021 State AZ , Chaparral HS, (C/O 2021)
On just 12 carries, Williams ran for 169 yards and 2 TD’s to blowout Brophy 35-0. Williams displayed good patience for plays and blocks to develop, then would run hard and low through the hole. He showed excellent lateral agility and was able to bounce off tackles well. He had an impressive run when he took the wildcat snap up the middle and showed great balance by bouncing off tacklers to take it 30 yards to the house. Due to COVID complications, this was Chaparral’s first game of the season, so expect Williams to make himself a popular back going forward.
Isaac Stopke, Lake Havasu HS (C/O 2023)
Stopke is emerging as a sophomore to watch as he racked up 201 yards rushing and 4 TD’s on Friday. He is a hard nosed, downhill runner with very good balance and body control. He can stretch the edge if needed, but excels between the tackles as he is a bruiser at 6’0″ 205. He has good speed for his age and size, and could definitely end up seeing an increase in his speed in the future, possibly turning him into an all-purpose back. Stopke has a very high ceiling as he is only going to continue to develop and mature in the next 2 years.
