Offensive weapons LJ Butcher and Caiden Barber sparked the Pittsburg offense. Here is a scouting report from their home loss against Lansing.
Four Stars of The Game
RB, Caiden Barber, 5’11”, 185 – Barber has moves that will make you wonder if his first name shouldn’t be Tiki. The senior back rushed for more than 100 yards in the loss and caught multiple passes out of the backfield. He is fast and can break tackles for no bigger than he is. As of yet, Barber does not have any college offers, but JUCO programs in Southeast Kansas and statewide should take a look at his film.
WR, LJ Butcher, 5’11”, 16 – Being listed at 5’11” might be stretching it a little for Butcher, but boy can he flat out get. He is a solid route runner and a weapon that Pittsburg should target more. He projects as your perfect slot back. He scored on a 5-yard touchdown and had 58-yards receiving on five catches. Like his teammate Barber, he is worthy of a JUCO offer.
LB, Andrew O’Doherty, 5’10”, 190 – O’Doherty, a junior linebacker, was extremely impressive in the loss. He led the Purple Dragons with eight tackles and is the team-leader in tackles for the season. He hits hard and wraps up on tackles. He still has another summer and senior season to get bigger and stronger.
LB, Devin Madison, 6’1”, 190 – Madison also had eight tackles for Pittsburg. He pursues the ball well and is fast enough to run plays down. He is not the most physical linebacker, but he has a nose for the football and is not shy about bringing the wood.
