Here is a scouting report from the Lansing road win on October 9.
Four Stars of the Game
WR, Malik Benson Malik Benson 6'1" | 175 lbs | WR Lansing | 2021 State KS , 6’1”, 175 (’21 Ranked No. 72) – Benson has multiple Division I college offers and rightly so. The senior wideout is fast and has good hands. He caught three balls for 89 yards including a 30-yard touchdown catch. Benson also ran the ball once for 17 yards. He is going to be a dangerous weapon in the return game as well.
QB, Caden Crawford Caden Crawford 6'4" | 235 lbs | LB Lansing | 2022 State KS , 6’4”, 235 (’22 Ranked No. 19) – Crawford arguably could be the best quarterback in the Class of 2022 in the state of Kansas. He is a big physical quarterback who throws the ball deep. He completed 3-of-4 pass attempts against the Purple Dragons and rushed for 24 yards on five carries. The game against the Lions was a grind-it-out possession game with limited offensive snaps for Lansing. Crawford will get multiple college offers from multiple levels of programs. There was a scout from a local MIAA DII school watching Crawford and Benson.
LB, Dylan Ward Dylan Ward 6'2" | 195 lbs | LB Lansing | 2021 State KS , 6’2’, 195 (’21 Ranked No. 125) – Ward is a beast of a linebacker. He led the Lions 11 tackles in the victory. He is not afraid to stick his nose in on a play and hits hard. He has quality speed and has all the tools of the prototypical middle linebacker. He probably tops out as an FCS type prospect who should for sure get looks from Division II and III teams.
DB, Ethan Cunning, 6’2”, 175 – Cunning, just a junior, was all over the field against Pittsburg. He amassed nine tackles in the victory. Think of him as lining up in the strong safety/monster back model. He is for sure worth a look by Junior College scouts and could get offers from larger programs as he continues to improve and get stronger.
