Using this pandemic as a reference point to what has happened since this all began, athletes were pretty much shut down, and while they tried the best they could to stay in shape, nothing replaces hitting and playing this game for real.
Even for those programs who began earlier than others, they were still finding it tough to get back in that groove.
But as we can plainly see, there have been athletes – in all classes – at all positions, who have gotten out to a quick start and making a lasting impression.
Today, we bring out five football players who have hit the ground running.
2021 – Carnell Davis, WR, Eau Gallie. Coming from New Jersey, here is a 6-2 pass catcher who has already made a lasting impression on the Commodore fans and teammates. Heavily recruited because of all the things he does, recently hauled in five catches for 162 yards, but three of those five catches were for touchdowns.

2022 – Eric Felder, DB, Tampa Jefferson. Easily one of the prospects on the rise that will be among the best in the state next year. What he can do this season is continue to work hard and continue to get college coaches watching his every move. The young man is a ball hawk – as he showed with two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns.

2021 – Evan Graham, LB, Boca Ciega. This Georgia State commitment is indeed one of the top prospects in the state this year – and he has really made a lasting impression. Earlier this season, he had13 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble and an interception return for a touchdown in a win.

2022 – Rickie Shaw, WR/CB, Jacksonville Andrew Jackson. Yet another versatile and athletic football player who can do it on either side of the ball – especially on offense, where he has had some big games so far this season. In beating Jacksonville Wolfson, he had 140 yards receiving and three touchdowns in sparking his team.

2023 – Ammiel Steele, QB Pensacola Booker T. Washington. The Wildcats certainly have themselves a solid football player for the future. This is gifted, athletic and passionate prospect, in his first career start, went 14-of-18 for 233 yards and four touchdowns while scoring one more touchdown on the ground. This is someone who is definitely making the most of his opportunity.
