The Crusaders, now 4-0, outscored DePaul 27-0 after trailing 10-7 through one quarter. The powerhouse program relied on the play of Ryan Butler Ryan Butler 5'11" | 205 lbs | RB Bergen Catholic | 2022 State NJ , who totaled 249 yards on 24 carries, with TD runs of 15, 36 and 76 yards.
Bergen Catholic continued its stellar defensive play against a dangerous DePaul offense, and won the battle up front.
It was a revenge game of sorts for Bergen Catholic after losing to the Spartans in a 31-28 thriller last year.
DePaul fell to 2-2 on the season.
Butler continues to prove he’s a next-level running back. He now has nine rushing touchdowns on the season, and 11 overall.
Bergen Catholic also scored on a 25-yard punt return by A.J. Morris and an 89-yard fumble return by Christian Ross.
DePaul’s points came on a 44-yard field goal from Matt Wilderson and a 76-yard connection between quarterback Andrew Butler Andrew Butler 6'4" | QB DePaul Catholic | 2021 State NJ and A’Khoury Lyde. Mekhi White had an interception on the defensive end for the Spartans.
