We got to know five talented athletes in Pt. 1 of this three-part series, and quite frankly, there’s going to be no drop off in talent as we move to Pt. 2 and highlight five more of the top uncommitted 2021s who play in Chicago’s Public League…
Jordan Collins Jordan Collins 5'7" | 160 lbs | WR Harlan | 2021 IL | ATH | Harlan
Collins is one of Chicago’s most talented football players you’ve probably never heard of. Out of the backfield, he’s a naturally gifted runner with the speed, vision, and quickness to cut back on a dime and accelerate without missing a beat. Has excellent hands and even better speed to get behind most defenders when lined up in the slot or out wide. Projects as a slot receiver at the next level with the ability to contribute as a returner on special teams.
Eric Thames | ATH | Al Raby
Thames is a fundamentally sound man coverage cornerback with quick feet and fluid hips to turn and run with the best of them. Has great instincts and ball skills to go along with the toughness to be a factor in the run game. On offense, he’s a possession receiver that can consistently move the chains by creating separation at the top of his routes.
Ivory Dyson | ATH | Morgan Park
It would be a disservice to Ivory Dyson to categorize him under any one position; he’s the true definition of what it means to be labeled as an “athlete.” He lines up as a RB, WR, TE, and could very well be a force at the LB position. But if we had to project a spot for him at the next level, it would be at TE. He catches the ball well and is light on his feet for a player of his size. Plays a physical and intimidating brand of football and is a willing blocker who, as a TE, can be on the field for all three downs.
Caylon Hall-Rattler | WR | CICS Longwood
Hall-Rattler is a productive, sure-handed WR with the superb body control to adjust to bad throws. He knows how to use his size to his advantage, and at 6’4, there aren’t many DB’s winning the size matchup against Hall-Rattler. Tall and long for a FS and uses his wingspan to break up and pick off passes.
Amarius Weatherspoon Amarius Weatherspoon 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Solorio | 2021 IL | RB | Solorio
Weatherspoon is probably one of the most underrated RB prospects in the state. He’s your prototypical 3-down back with the size and strength to run through you and has enough speed to go by you. An intelligent runner with elite foot speed who’s also a reliable blocker with soft hands to catch it out the backfield. Has a quick burst with a mean cutback, which often results in him hitting pay dirt.
