Edgy Tim / EFT Sunday Showcase Alpha Dogs: QB, WR, TE, DB & LB’s
The culmination of Edgy Tim / EFT’s Sunday Night Showcases was exactly what we all thought it would be. An impressive collection of athletes on both sides of the ball, battling it out on a cold Sunday evening that resembled football weather. There were plenty of great prospects in attendance and here are the quarterbacks, wider receivers, tight ends, defensive backs and linebackers that stood out.
2021 Tight end / wide receiver Ryan Orput, Hinsdale Central
What stands out first is the athleticism that Orput shows in a very solid frame. He would show well in drills then made some very impressive catches during 1 vs 1’s, he was grouped with the top performers in the final reps. The move to tight end is one that will pay dividends in the future, the raw ability is there. Orput is a guy that would have seen his recruitment really take off had there been a fall season.
2022 Linebacker Carson Eggebraten Carson Eggebraten 6'0" | 220 lbs | LB Saint Viator | 2022 State IL , St. Viator
Hard to believe Eggebraten is just a junior, he looks like a senior, his frame is filled out, but still room to add on some solid size. He runs very well and showed that during the 1 vs 1 drills, which earned him a spot for the final reps. Love the upside and his recruitment should start to flourish.
2022 Running back Kyle Clayton, Phillips
The best athlete in attendance and wasn’t afraid to show it. Clayton showed a variety of moves as the back went through individual drills, the highlight was when he showed an impressive jumping ability when doing a hurdle drill. Clayton showed enough hands to move out wide if he outgrows his current position. Ran good routes and consistently caught the ball during 1 vs 1’s, and also earned a spot in the final group. He’s been in conversation with some D1 programs and with a good junior year, his recruitment should explode.
2022 quarterback Brandon Rogers, Brother Rice
Although he isn’t the prototypical quarterback size, Rogers makes up for it with his arm strength and accuracy. The ball just comes out of his hand differently, his baseball background shows. Rogers also made it to the final reps, just an all around impressive athlete.
2022 Cornerback Khary Shaw, Brother Rice
Shaw has the mentality you’re looking for in a corner and the game to back it up. Shaw didn’t shy away from press coverage, showed great hip transition and strength. Solid length, can add some strength and can add it. Shaw could start to get a lot of recruiting traction once he finishes his junior campaign.
2022 Tight end Chris Petrucci, Maine South
Two weeks in a row Petrucci put on a show. A perfect redzone threat, tall, long, athletic and high points the ball. Made several impressive catches during 1 vs 1’s and brings an edge to his game. Will need to add weight to be a more effective blocker, but as a flex TE he’s got all the tools.
2021 Running back Nate Thomas Nate Thomas 5'8" | 200 lbs | RB Thornwood | 2021 IL , Thornwood
Thomas worked out with the backs and receivers, often prompting the cornerbacks to complain that he was too big to be in that group. Thomas is well put together, already possessing a college-ready from, especially his lower half. Has great competitive fire and plenty of ability to back it up. Another 2020 fall recruiting casualty.
2022 Athlete Myles Walton, Homewood Flossmoor
Even though Walton worked out with the receivers, he showed that he can play on both sides of the ball with his athletic ability. Due to his smaller size, I question is he can be a factor at corner, I like him much better as an slot receiver. The wiggle is there, he’s got the speed to pop the top off on a defense.
2021 Quarterback Caleb Treadwell, Hillcrest
On the smaller side for a quarterback also, but the accuracy and arm strength are impressive. Throws a very catchable ball, often leading receivers giving them an opportunity for YAC. A very good looking prospect.
Best of the rest:
2021 Linebacker Logan Lindeman, Loyola
Worked out with the linebackers and defensive line and showed well on both sides. Had 2 pass break ups in 1 vs 1’s.
2023 Wide Receiver Kahlil Tate, Kenwood
The frame is fantastic for such a young player, has some good football ahead of him.
2022 Quarterback Dontrell Jackson, Marist
Throw a very pretty ball with good touch. He’s a guy to watch over the next year.
2022 Linebacker Jamol Molton Jamol Molton 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB East St. Louis | 2022 State IL , East St. Louis
Whatever they’re feeding kids at ESL, Molton has bought in. Great frame with a bright future.
2021 Running back Syone Usam-Harper, Carmel
Stood out during 1 vs 1’s, ran good routes and showed solid hands.
