Yaser Alawadi, Maine East, JR
This is a massive human being who can move like a deer. Yaser has a very high ceiling and is still developing as a football player. However, I was very impressed by how well he’s evolved in a short amount of time as a tackle prospect. He’s got long arms and phenomenal feet for a big guy, the sky is the limit for Mr. Alawadi.
Jaylin Caldwell, Phillips, JR
Probably the most physically imposing prospect at the camp. Clint Cosgrove of National Preps and I were left wondering, “Who is that kid!?” Jaylin looks like a Division one offensive lineman and has the lateral movement skills to back it up. He’s a gifted pass protector with a nice looking pass set. His junior tape will be critical in his recruitment.
Paris Patterson Paris Patterson 6'4" | 325 lbs | OL East St. Louis | 2023 State IL Jr., East St. Louis, SO
The East St. Louis offensive line looks like a college offensive line. These kids can play too. This was the first time I had seen Paris in person and I came away impressed. He’s got a heavy punch and played fundamentally sound during 1 on 1’s. When he hit the bag during individual you could certainly hear the pop.
Myles McVay, East St. Louis, SO
Myles did what he always does and that’s perform. I just don’t understand how that big of a kid can move like that, it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. He pancaked a bag holder during individual, which in its own right is impressive.
Will McCorkle, Carmel, SR
Will was not on my radar prior to this event, but he showed on Sunday that he should be. He’s put together at 6’4, 295, and showed impressive upper body strength. He played both tackle and guard in 2019, but I think his best football is played inside and he’ll make a solid guard prospect at the next level.
Jacob Welch Jacob Welch 6'6" | 285 lbs | OL Johnsburg | 2023 State IL , Johnsburg, SO
Jacob will be a four-year starter when it’s all said and done and has shown he’s a Major FBS prospect. I love this kids upside and think he’ll make a very good tackle prospect in the 2023 class. He plays tough, through the whistle and showed patience during 1 on 1’s, and didn’t lunge at opposing defensive linemen. He does a good job bending at the knees and not at the waist.
Jimmy Liston Jimmy Liston 6'4" | 310 lbs | OL Fenwick | 2022 State IL , Fenwick, JR
Jimmy went to war with Carmine Bastone Carmine Bastone 6'2" | 270 lbs | DL Saint Charles North | 2021 IL of St. Charles North and looked good. Jimmy consistently plays with a low pad level and can hold up against a bull rush. He knows how to keep his shoulders square and not open the gate to defensive linemen. He’s garnered a ton of recruiting attention and more should be coming soon.
Others Who Stood Out
Luke Dalton, Marian Central Catholic, JR
Brandon Henderson, East St. Louis, SO
Josh Sears Josh Sears 6'5" | 265 lbs | OL Libertyville | 2022 State IL , Libertyville, JR
DL
Logan Lindeman, Loyola, SR
It’s possible that this kid could play four different positions. He’s put together and moves very well, I think he’s probably a 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level, but it’s possible he could put his hand in the dirt as a true five-technique if need be. Logan still has his best football ahead of him.
Trystan Anderson, Buffalo Grove, JR
Anderson is athletic and has a long frame he can easily grow into. He’s got a great first step off the ball and explodes to the point of attack. He plays defensive end, but I think he could play outside linebacker. His movement skills and pure straight-line speed make him an intriguing prospect.
Mark Gorbatenko, Clear Creek Amana (IA), SR
If you haven’t heard Mark’s story yet, it’s pretty wild. He was a career hockey player at Barrington and never played football. EFT founder Elias Karras put together film of him doing drills and such, next thing you know the kid had an NIU offer! Mark is chiseled at 6’5, 245 and already looks like a college defensive end. He’s quick to the point of attack and easily fights off opposing offensive linemen as a pass rusher. He’s a bit raw, but that’s expected and his ceiling is through the roof.
Christian Lorenzo Christian Lorenzo 6'5" | 285 lbs | DL Dekalb | 2022 State IL , DeKalb, JR
This kid has Division 1 size & talent, and I’m confident someone is going to come in and offer him. He dominated during 1 on 1’s and lined up at defensive end as a five-technique and showed a ton of versatility. I think it’s possible that in down and distance situations Christian could play as a true defensive end in an odd front at the next level.
Jireh Mays Jireh Mays 6'2" | 320 lbs | DL East St. Louis | 2022 State IL , East St. Louis, JR
Jireh is so twitchy for a big guy and extremely quick off the ball. I have him rated as the #1 defensive linemen in Illinois and every camp I see him at he shows why. He was consistent during 1 on 1’s and showed a fierce swat in individual drills. Mays is a special talent and he could be the next great Flyer defensive lineman
Connor Murphy Connor Murphy 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Glenbard South | 2022 State IL , Glenbard South, JR
Every time I see Connor, I feel like he gets better and better. He’s added multiple tools to his toolbox this offseason and is developing into a very talented pass rusher. He’s as competitive as they come and showed that high motor on Sunday.
Roderick Pierce, Brother Rice, SO
I’m excited to watch this kid on varsity. He dominated the lower levels as a freshman and was phenomenal during 1 on 1’s on Sunday. He’s got solid bend for a big man and will easily get extension on opposing offensive linemen. Keep an eye on this kid this winter, his sophomore tape should be a good one.
