Here are five talented Kansas defensive lineman looking for their first college football offer.
David Waymire David Waymire 6'1" | 225 lbs | DL Hutchinson | 2021 State KS , 6’1”, 225, Hutchinson (’21 Ranked No. 62)—Waymire is a solid athlete who somehow has gotten over-looked to this point in the recruiting process. The Hutch senior is a three-year starter for the Salthawks. He had 22 tackles through four games. He moves quickly and wraps up on tackles. In-state programs should check in on Waymire before finalizing their Class of 2021 recruiting classes.
Anthony Herrera Anthony Herrera 5'10" | 250 lbs | DL Chase | 2021 KS , 5’0”, 250, Chase (’21 Ranked No. 300) – Herrera is an aggressive player who enjoys football. He has been a three-year starter and a two-year captain for the Chase Kats. He is best suited to play a nose-shade on defense, but he is also a solid center. He has 23 tackles in four games for Chase. He is a solid worker in the classroom as well, as he currently has a 3.8 GPA. He would be a solid addition to a JUCO program.
Jonah Smith Jonah Smith 6'2" | 250 lbs | DL Plainville | 2021 State KS , 6’2”, 260, Plainville – Smith is a hoss! The Plainville his fast for his size. He has a quick first step and is strong as a three-year-old steer. Smith has a solid work ethic on and off the field. He currently has a 4.0 GPA and works in the cattle industry. Smith has 23 tackles so far in 2020 and is a big space-eater who frees up his linebackers.
Conner Koehn, 6’3”, 215, Canton Galva – Kohen has a high motor and is playing well for the undefeated Eagles. Koehn plays as a standup defensive end for the 8-Man Eagles but could move inside if needed in 11-Man football. He is a strong young man with a 415 lb deadlift and a 225 lb clean. Division III and JUCO programs should give Koehn a call.
Wyatt Busick, 6’1”, 220, Piper– Busick is a tank. He keeps a low pad level and is strong enough to fight off blocks. Piper is a school district that has been hammered by the COVID outbreak. Busick won’t have a lot of game film to watch from this season, but what there is worth a watch. He might top out as a JUCO prospect, but NAIA scouts should check in with him.
