Gritty Friday Night: Redwood Valley vs. Pipestone
In six years this matchup has become one of the best in the State, meeting 12 times in that span. The Pipestone Area Arrows again traveled to Redwood Falls to take on the Cardinals for a solid Section 3AA tilt which again was an exciting matchup. The first half was tight, a turnover for both teams on each first drive turned into three straight scoring drives back to another defensive chess match. The Cardinals again stayed strong in the second half with a late score and defense holding strong to keep the Arrows from coming back. Here is the scoring recap here:
2nd Quarter:
RV: Alex Lang- 19 yard pass to Carter Peterson, 2-pt No Good, 6-0 RV.

Players Highlighted from Redwood Valley:
RB/LB- Carter Johnson Carter Johnson 6'0" | 240 lbs | ATH Redwood Valley | 2021 State MN ran the ball hard, through defenders and was tough to bring down. Defensively, flowed to make a lot of tackles around the line of scrimmage.
DT- Maverick Goblirsch plugged up the middle gaps all night, made a lot of plays in the backfield with a quick jump off the snap.
QB/DB- Alex Lang did a good job keeping the offense moving down the field passing or running the ball.
WR/DB- Drew Lundeen is a quick and shifty receiver, runs good routes and sure-handed, is not afraid to run through defenders. Defensively, is a good tackler initiating contact to the ball carrier.
OL- Matthew Prouty did a great job opening seams for the run game and giving Lang time to make passes.
Players Highlighted from Pipestone Area:
RB/WR/DB- Maddox Biever shifty out of the backfield, good vision and hands with a good burst of speed. Defensively, flies around the field well and makes a good deal of tackles.
RB/LB- Joe Kooiman had some good power runs, very decisive with the football, very hard-nosed. Defensively filled gap quickly and made good tackles.
WR/DB-Ty Hansen played tight coverage in one-on-one situations, also emerged as a good target for short passes.
WR/DB- Ryan Woodberry played well in coverage, not many pass completions in front of him, big INT in the end zone early in the game.
OL/DE- Jayden Hoss tackled really well against the option offense, also played well on passing downs putting pressure on the QB.
