An upset-filled Week 2 brought change to the state’s top-20 rankings. Seven ranked teams lost on Friday and Saturday. Two teams, Woodrow Wilson and Red Bank Catholic, exited the rankings after tough losses last week where Cherokee shut out Woodrow Wilson by a 35-0 score and Red Bank Catholic lost a tough battle to Middletown South, 32-25. And, of course, River Dell put an end to Ramapo’s 27-game winning streak. Week 3 could be even more exciting and unpredictable. Let’s take a look at the impact players for this week’s teams ranked 6-10.

Richie Sica, Ramapo: Ramapo saw its 27-game unbeaten streak come to an end at the hands of River Dell. Ironically, the last team to beat Ramapo prior to this past week was River Dell in 2017. As a result, the Raiders dropped six spots in the state rankings. Sica, a senior, ran for 114 yards on 16 carries with a score in the team’s season-opening win over Pascack Valley. He caught a TD in the loss to River Dell. He has big-play capability and he’ll be key along with quarterback Charles DePrimaCharlesDePrima6'2" | QBRamapo | 2021StateNJ. Ramapo looks to get back on track at Demarest on Oct. 16.
