Franey, a senior, leads the team against Collins-Maxwell in an eight-player postseason game this coming Friday.
Martensdale-St. Mary’s went 7-0 during the year, scoring over 42 points in all seven games. That included a high of 77 in a Homecoming win over Grand View Christian.
“Finishing off the regular season undefeated was a really great feeling,” Franey said. “We didn’t play as well as we had hoped to, but we still found a way to get the job done and that’s all that needs to happen come the postseason.”
Franey enters the playoffs as one of the most prolific quarterbacks in the state. He has thrown for 32 touchdowns with just one interception in 151 attempts.
Along with that incredible 16-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio, Franey has thrown for 1,559 yards and is completing 61 percent of his passes. He recently committed to Central College.

Along with his success in the air, Franey also has 264 yards rushing and 10 more scores. Martensdale-St. Mary’s has 59 offensive touchdowns on the season.
The Blue Devils worked on a few things during the bye week they received.
“We really focused on being in shape for the rest of the year and going hard every rep in practice,” Franey said. “I think that this was our best week of practice yet and we are just starting to peak at the right moment.”
Franey has a pair of top targets in classmates Carson Elbert and Troy Holt. Elbert has 31 receptions for 543 yards and 13 touchdowns with Holt adding 26 for 539 and 13 scores.
Hogan Franey, a junior, has 273 yards receiving and five TDs as well.
For Franey, Senior Night and a win over Murray was his favorite moment to date. He threw for 225 yards and six touchdowns.
“We didn’t play very well,” he said of the game. “But every single guy on that field played their hearts out to come off with the win.”
