As a matter of fact, official rankings have them listed as the number one team in the state, just above Grayson High School, who has had an incredible season as well. Regardless of what you believe, they have undoubtedly competed at an extremely high level, with plenty of players having a great season along the way.
Perhaps, one of the players who has stood out the most for Lowndes this season is their QB, Jacurri Brown Jacurri Brown 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Lowndes | 2022 State GA . All in all, he has thrown for 6 TD’s through 5 games, and has also ran for 9 TD’s- which is the most TD’s out of any player on the team. The only other players who come close to his amount of TD’s are both Justin Lee, and Dominique Marshall, who each have 5 so far this season. Impressively, Brown has done all of this, while also accumulating over 1000 yards combined from both his rushing, and passing success. With this, he currently leads the entire team in rushing yards as well, with 516 yards.
Outside of Brown, the offense has also seen plenty of success from players such as their Senior RB’s Justin Lee, and Israel Mitchell, who have become a major factor in the running game, which has ultimately opened plenty of things up offensively for the Vikings. This has led to the success of Viking’s receivers such as Chase Belcher and Dominique Marshall, who each have already totaled over 250 yards so far this season.
Defensively, the Vikings have also had a ton of success. They have totaled over 13 sacks as a whole, and they also have 5 players who have a sack or more so far this season. Two players in particular though, Leon Williams, and Quinton Wade, have excelled in this area. Williams has already earned 6 sacks, while Wade has totaled 3. The Vikings have also done a great job turning the ball over, as multiple players have interceptions. Tylar Belcher leads the team in interceptions, while Jalon Baker has 2. The Vikings haven’t struggled to get to the football and make tackles either, and they have multiple players who have totaled over 20 tackles. TJ Quinn leads the team in this area with 31 tackles.
While the Vikings have had a large amount of early success, we also cannot wait to see how things unfold for them within 7A football. As we all know, teams such as Grayson are also waiting to meet them at the top, and will do anything to dethrone them from the number one spot in the state.
