But the Rock Hill Bearcats would not go away quietly as they fought back in the second quarter to make it 21-14 Northwestern at the half, but the Trojans pulled away in the fourth quarter to win 35-21.
Let’s get into the defensive standouts from Friday night’s contest:
Northwestern
2022 DB Tay McCrorey (6’ 161 lbs.) — Tay made his presence felt with several hits when Rock Hill went to their outside run game and closed the running lanes quickly several times.
2022 DB Michael McMullen (6’ 161 lbs.) — With the game tight in the fourth quarter, McMullen came up in the clutch, reading a route and closing on the ball to make a critical interception where Rock Hill could’ve tied the game. He also sealed the win with an interception late in the game.
Rock Hill
2022 DE, TE Luke Bracey (6’6, 225 lbs.) — Luke was active against the Trojans. He blocked a punt which set up a Rock Hill touchdown to get the Bearcats back in the game and had a perfect form in blocking the punt. He also had a pass breakup on a third down to force a Northwestern punt.
2021 NG, DT Za’vion Robinson (5’11, 220 lbs.) — We noticed at one point that Robinson had good form and pushed right into the center and affected a run play in the second quarter.
