Paige Nobles has been relieved of his duties as the head football coach at Northwood High School in Irvine officials at Northwood told Prep Redzone Friday.

Northwood co-athletic director Brandon Emery declined to elaborate on the reason for the dismissal. "We wish him all the best in his future endeavors," Emery told Prep Redzone in an email.

Nobles was informed Thursday by the school's administration that he would not be returning as the team's head coach. He led the Timberwolves to an 8-3 overall record and a second place finish in the Pacific Coast League last season, his only season as the team's head coach.

Prior to being named the head coach at Northwood, Nobles was an assistant for the Timberwolves for one year. He previously was an assistant coach at Laguna Beach, Aliso Niguel and Beckman.

Emery sent a statement to parents, players and football supporters, which was shared with Prep Redzone.

“I want to start by thanking Coach Nobles for his dedication and many hours of work for the NHS football program, NHS, and our student athletes. As he indicated in his email to you last night, we are going to make a transition at this time.
