The 2020 season has featured many great prospects, and for what it’s worth, we are grateful that we got that! I believe that not having the full 10-week schedule added more fuel to the fire for prospects to perform at a higher rate much earlier and often. Ohio is known for having some of the toughest players due to the adverse climate, but this year’s challenger brought a new sense of toughness. This list of players rose to the occasion in a shorten season but deserve looks from college scouts.
Gio DeSantis, MLB, 2021
Central Catholic
Gio is described as the heart and soul of the Central Catholic stingy defense. His best ability is not just how he fills up the “A” gaps, but he is the unit leader. Leading his team with 28 tackles over 5 games and 8 being solo, Giovani is a tough football player with awesome production. Gio will be a leader at the next level and will surely be the captain of his team. Hard work and leadership are his best assets; he is a hidden gem.
Anthony Vann, WR, 2023
Fremont Ross
Vann made his coming out party when Little Giants exploded on the scene vs. Whitmer with a 3 Touchdown game. This 2020 season has been perfect for Fremont Ross; they featured one of the most explosive offenses in the entire region. Vann is a big-time prospect standing at 6’2 and weighing 175lbs; he will surely grow into his frame and has D1 potential if he continues to improve.
Jamari Croom, WR, 2021
Rossford
Croom has been a reliable wideout for the Bulldogs all season long. Jamari is a sure catch kind of receiver that can make tough plays. His stride and quick release are also underrated skills that Croom has in his toolbox. With 10+ touchdowns on the season, it’s safe to say his recruitment will pick in the coming months. His performance from October 23, 2020, can be found below.
Nathan Hawks, K, 2021
Greenon
Hawks has become one of Ohio’s premier special team’s weapons this fall. Nathan has a very powerful leg and shows us on many occasions as he kicks the ball out the endzone often. Beyond Hawks ability to place kick, he is also a very talented FG kicker that has displayed many accurate kicks this season. Nathan was an All-State selection as a JR and the same can be expected in 2020.
His 2020 stats: 10/13 on field goals (long of 50), 28/28 on PAT’s, and 22 Touchbacks.
