The seven backs featured below have been the best in the Grand Rapids area at the midway point of the season.
Camron Terry Camron Terry 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Grandville | 2021 State MI , Grandville
Terry is one half of the two-headed monster that Grandville has the luxury of deploying each week. In Grandville’s opening win over Grand Haven, Terry rushed for 186 yards, and he scored on touchdown runs of 79 and 27 yards. Terry then followed that up with a monster game in week two, rushing for 157 yards and three touchdowns in Grandville’s 54-42 win over East Kentwood.
Marcel Love Marcel Love 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Grandville | 2021 MI , Grandville
Love is the other half of Grandville’s dynamic duo. Love started the season off strong, tallying 95 yards rushing, including touchdown runs of 1, 7, and 67 yards. Love continued to roll in week two, rushing for 134 yards and three touchdowns. Week three was his most clutch performance of the year as he found the endzone late in the 4th quarter to help Grandville defeat Hudsonville 21-17.
Malekhi Obande Malekhi Obande 5'8" | 170 lbs | RB Unity Christian | 2021 MI , Unity Christian
Obande has proven to be one of the more consistent backs in the area through three weeks. In week one, Obande finished with 83 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown in the Crusaders 29-12 win over Spring Lake. In week two, Obande rushed for 175 yards on 13 carries and scored a touchdown in Unity’s 39-21 win over West Catholic. Obande had yet another efficient game in week three, gaining 170 yards on 10 carries, scoring on touchdown runs of 64 and 49 yards in the Crusader’s 44-7 win over Coopersville.
Nate Milanowski Nate Milanowski 5'9" | 175 lbs | WR East Grand Rapids | 2021 State MI , East Grand Rapids
Milanowski and the Pioneer offense got off to a slow start against a solid Lowell squad, only scoring six points in the opener. It’s been a different story since then as Milanowski compiled 94 rushing yards and two scores on the ground in week two. He also flashed his pass-catching ability, hauling in two catches for 76 yards and a touchdown in East’s win over Greenville. Milanowski continued his hot streak in week three, rushing for 148 yards on 17 carries in the Pioneers 52-14 win over Northview.
Nate Clark, Lowell
Nate Clark and Doak Dean have been nothing but problems for the OK White this season as the Red Arrows are off to its first 3-0 since they made it to the Division II semi-finals in 2016. Clark has had back-to-back big games for Lowell, rushing for 132 yards in week two, and for 128 yards on seven carries and four touchdowns in week three.
Cebe Hunderman, Zeeland East
Hunderman wasted no time this season as he compiled 102 yards rushing on 11 carries, scoring a rushing touchdown and had a touchdown reception in Zeeland East’s week one win over Union. Hunderman then followed that up with another big performance, gaining 186 yards on 12 carries, rushing for a pair of touchdowns in the Chix’s week two win over Wyoming. Despite the loss to rival Zeeland West in week three, Hunderman finished with 91 yards on the ground on 15 carries, and he had 4 catches for 70 yards.
Cole DiPiazza, Allendale
Cole had arguably the biggest game of the year thus far in Allendale’s week one win over Holland Christian as he rushed for 238 yards on 23 carries, scoring five touchdowns for the Falcons. In week two, DiPiazza gained 126 yards on 17 carries, and he rushed for a pair of touchdowns. He also had 98 receiving yards in Allendale’s 24-14 win over Hamilton. In week three, DiPiazza continued his dominance with 158 yards on 23 carries, while recording a receiving touchdown and touchdown pass in the Falcon’s 45-22 win over Fruitport.
