While several elite schools have not been able to come to the party because of Covid restrictions, one area that is taking full advantage of the spotlight.
Perhaps the least covered areas in the Sunshine State is the Panhandle. That’s why today, we bring you five impressive prospects to keep an eye on this season.
2021 – Gaveen Alexis, RB, Fort Walton Beach. One of the key athletes on a very impressive football team – has already shown what he can do by rushing for 224 yards and three touchdowns in the Vikings’ 35-28 win over rival Choctawhatchee.

2021 – Joe Brunson, RB, Baker. Here is someone who has been around this game for a while – and watching him perform – he has indeed become a better football prospect in this his final season at the high school level. Recently, in the Gators’ 18-13 come-from-behind victory over Jay, he had 168 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Fundamentally sound athlete.

2021 – Declan Houchins, Athlete, North Bay Haven. Here is a program over the next few years that improvement will come. With prospects that never had a football culture at this school, they do with veteran football mind Andy Siegal. Football will continue to produce athletes, leaders and performers like this young man who collected 17 tackles, had six carries for 84 yards, four catches for 84 yards and a touchdown, and also ran for a two-point conversion, threw for another in a loss to Wewahitchka.

2021 – Shawn Parker, Niceville. Certainly one of the early season surprises. Here is a back who runs hard and makes those big runs when needed. Solid prospect who has the chance to be very special this season and help put himself on the map. Recently, he had 13 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown plus 21 yards receiving for the Eagles in their 56-14 win over Crestview.

2021 – Jaheim Simmons, RB, West Florida. One of these versatile football players who gets it done on both sides of the ball. As a running back, he is explosive, shifty and knows where to run. Because of his speed, he is able to bounce runs outside – while also showcasing his power running ability, tackle to tackle. In a win against Pensacola Catholic, his durable frame carried 25 times for 149 yards and a touchdown.
