Defensive MVP- Terren Green, RB/LB, Snowflake (2021)
Green was an all around playmaker. He was flying around the field and delivering huge hits all game. He showed excellent play recognition skills and instincts. He is a very fundamental football player and has the ability to meet big ball carriers in the hole and stick them. He showed great pursuit on outside runs and screens to make plays. ALA was forced to throw the ball to get down field as Green put a stop to their run game early. It was clear ALA wanted to avoid Green, and Green was the key defensive factor for the game. He needs to be on a recruiting board ASAP.
Spencer Nielson, RB/LB, American Leadership Academy-Gilbert (2022)
Nielson, also an offensive standout, was filling holes early in the game and showed very impressive instincts and speed on the edges. He was very difficult for Snowflake to contain as he made numerous clutch tackles including a goal line stop on 4th and goal. He was able to shed blocks well and took good angles when pursuing Snowflakes speedy back Mayson McKinlay. Nielson was one of the best athletes on the field is a hard nosed, gritty player for ALA.
Rev Brimhall, LB, Snowflake (2021)
Brimhall stepped up on Friday night by forcing Ricedorf out of the pocket frequently. He was constantly in pursuit of Ricedorf and other ball carriers for ALA-Gilbert throughout the game. He assisted on multiple tackles, as the Snowflake defense flew to the ball and gang tackled effectively. Brimhall got the Snowflake defense a clutch sack in the 4th quarter, and he also had a clutch PBU on an ALA-Gilbert two-point conversion that woud’ve tied the game late in the 4th quarter.
Ryson Stuart, DB, Snowflake (2021)
Stuart had a clutch night by intercepting a Ricedorf fade in the end zone with less than a minute to play to get the W over ALA-Gilbert. He showed good leaping ability on the interception against a much taller matchup. Stuart faced a pass-heavy ALA-Gilbert offense and overall showed good instincts and coverage. He was a game sealing hero for Snowflake.
Caleb Lyman, DB, Snowflake (2021)
Lyman showed good man and zone coverage for snowflake. He was able to cover ground quick and had a clutch PBU on a deep pass in the end zone. Lyman was flying all around the field and included himself on numerous tackles and assisted on many as well. He is a low tackler and was effective on stopping receivers immediately after the catch.
