Offensive MVP- Caden Cantrell, QB, Snowflake (2022)
Cantrell played lights out in his first varsity start. He showed good poise and decision making in the pocket, and was able to show his mobility by scrambling to make plays. In a run-heavy snowflake offense, Cantrell showed that he can step in and sling it against anybody in 3A, which adds a whole new dimension to the Snowflake offense. He showed good velocity on his passes and made some impressive intermediate tight window throws. Cantrell accounted for 3 total TD’s, by tossing 2 and rushing for 1. Cantrell is a legit prospect and will be fun to follow this season.
Spencer Nielson, RB/LB, American Leadership Academy-Gilbert (2022)
Nielson accounted for all 3 ALA scores. He was unstoppable at the goal line by punching it in 3 times on goal line runs. He is a hard, downfield runner with decent speed as well. He oftentimes ran shallow and flat routes on QB rollouts, but was definitely more effective as a RB. His size with his athleticism made him a threat alone. He is your typical workhorse RB that will see a lot of volume throughout the year.
Noah Baum, WR, Snowflake (2022)
Baum has established good chemistry with fellow junior QB Caden Cantrell. Baum showed breakaway speed and excellent field awareness. He has the perfect outside receiver build and showed a good release on both outside and inside releases. He was explosive out of his cuts, which helped him catch a slant and take it for a 50+ yard TD. He finds open windows on busted plays which makes the ball find him easily in which he caught a scrambling Cantrell pass by finding an open window in the end zone.
Jack Ricedorf, QB, American Leadership Academy-Gilbert (2021)
Ricedorf played extremely well in the second half. He came out guns blazing by slinging posts, crossing routes, and delivery darts on the run to make it a tight game. He showed impressive grit as he led ALA to a 99 yard drive that ended in a TD. He has a college QB build and was effective as a ball carrier by picking up a couple clutch first downs. Ricedorf is a legit play maker and a very accurate passer and should have a big year going forward.
Mayson McKinlay, RB/LB, Snowflake (2021)
McKinlay is coming off a season ending injury last season, and didn’t lose a step. McKinlay was explosive as a ball carrier and showed good lateral mobility. He was oftentimes one or two guys away from breaking away. He has good speed and can also run very good routes. He does it all for Snowflake as he returns kicks, runs the ball, and can line up in the slot as well. Mckinlay has a big role and should continue to have a good senior season.
