Normally, multiple players from both teams will standout, but this week, it is all one sided. Chandler is one dangerous football team. Take a look at the 5 offensive standouts from week 2:
Offensive MVP: Eli Sanders Eli Sanders 6'1" | 190 lbs | RB Chandler | 2021 State AZ , RB, Chandler (2021)
The Boise State commit proved why he is the best of the best with a monster 200 yard, 4 TD night, and he only played one half of football. Sanders had a 95 yard TD rush up the middle and hit top speed immediately. Sanders was explosive through the hole, explosive laterally, and showed breakaway speed on his 95 and 56 yard TD runs. He also proved to be a strong, powerful back with solid balance as he was able to bust through for a 15 yard TD and also push his way through for a goal line TD. Nobody could even slightly contain him in any way. Sanders is your complete back, and absolutely balled out on Friday night. As stated before, big time players make big time plays in big time games, and Eli Sanders Eli Sanders 6'1" | 190 lbs | RB Chandler | 2021 State AZ showed up to play.
Kyion Grayes Kyion Grayes 6'1" | 175 lbs | WR Chandler | 2022 State AZ , WR, Chandler (2022)
Grayes was one of the most electric players to watch on Friday, as the UofA commit finished the night with 2 TD’s. He opened everyone’s eyes when he caught a quick inside release route, turned on the jets to beat the safety, then made an explosive cut toward open field in which nobody could catch him for a 46 yard TD. He did a great job of setting up his routes and was open all night. Grayes was explosive out of his cuts and always seemed to get a clean release. The Keene to Grayes duo was exciting to watch, and I’m sure we will see much more of Grayes this season.
Mikey Keene Mikey Keene 5'11" | 175 lbs | QB Chandler | 2021 State AZ , QB, Chandler (2021)
The UCF commit did a great job controlling the offense all around on Friday. He delivered multiple darts to Kyion Grayes Kyion Grayes 6'1" | 175 lbs | WR Chandler | 2022 State AZ and Eli Swope Eli Swope 6'3" | 225 lbs | TE Chandler | 2021 State AZ with pinpoint accuracy. Although he tossed 2 dimes to Grayes for TD’s, he had a great throw on 3rd down in which he was poised in the pocket, stepped up, and delivered a dart right over the middle linebackers head in stride with his receiver in a tight window for a first down. It was a legit college level throw and to be able to go through the progression as he did on that play was very impressive. Keene has a quick release with excellent ball velocity, and he will be a fun QB to watch throughout the season and into college.
Nicolas Nesbitt Nicolas Nesbitt 5'8" | 185 lbs | RB Chandler | 2021 State AZ t, RB, Chandler (2021)
Nesbitt had himself a productive night by breaking off a couple big runs. He had a 56 yard run that set up Sanders 2nd TD of the game. He was able to find the end zone on a 29 yard TD when he bounced to the outside and used his breakaway speed down the sideline to score. Nesbitt was explosive all night and showed great vision as a ball carrier. He runs hard and aggressive and proved to be a tough back to bring down. Chandler has a scary 1-2 punch with Sanders and Nesbitt, and he will continue to produce all year.
Mason Winkelmann, OL, Chandler
Although it is extremely difficult to add only one of Chandler’s offensive lineman as a standout, Winkelmann definitely stepped up as the anchor of Chandler’s O-line on Friday. He was crucial in Sanders big night, as he was consistently mauling his opponents with Sanders running right of his blocks up the middle. He showed great leverage all night and was able to bully around Pinnacle’s D-line. He looked athletic, strong, and paved the way for Chandler’s ground and pound. All of Chandler’s offensive line played phenomenal, and Winkelmann should get some much deserved attention after Friday night’s game.
