Continue ReadingThe city rankings of the top 100 players in the Central Valley District has come to the quarter-point in the series. Once again, the players mentioned are within the Sac-Joaquin Section outside of the Sacramento Metropolitan Area.
See below these five players for links to previous rankings in the series.
80. Isaiah Zamora – Atwater – LB
Zamora is a versatile player who plays his position of outside linebacker at top-notch. He finds gaps to get to the pass, the reach to get a hand on passes, great hands to strip the ball, and spin around blockers to stop the run game. Zamora was second in the Central California Conference (CCC) for sacks along with yards lost from sacks.
79. Solomon Ussery – Turlock – OL
One of Ussery’s noticeable skills is being a great pass protector. He has quality blocking ability for different play calls, does not hold back to present his strength to knock down opponents, and agility to get downfield to hit moving targets attempting to tackle the ball carrier. He was just one of three junior offensive linemen in the Central California Athletic League (CCAL) to be named to an all-league team in 2019.
78. Leonardo Menera – Atwater – DL
Menera is tough to guard on the line on scrimmage with his ability to fight through a double team and penetrate gaps. He is a defensive end who can batt passes, tackle for loss, and consistently put pressure on the quarterback as an edge rusher. The Atwater Falcons had the second most tackles with a talented defense within the CCC. Menera, along with his teammate Isaiah Zamora, earned second-team in the league last season.
77. Cade Gilbert – Turlock – DB
Gilbert is a talented safety and a solid athlete for the Bulldogs. His film shows him to be capable of stripping the ball, having resilient man-to-man coverage on receivers, deflecting passes, or recording a pick and coming in quick from the secondary for a strong tackle on the rusher. Six Bulldogs were named to all-team defense for CCAL last season, but Gilbert and Ussery were the lone juniors to be named for the recognition. The Bulldogs will face the St. Mary’s Rams on Jan. 8 to start their season.
76. Damian Caetano – Hughson – OL
Caetano dominates the line of scrimmage and puts opposing linemen on the ground with his blocking. He plays with outstanding pad level and knee bend to make him a valuable asset to the Hughson Huskies offensive line. His film also shows him to be a great pass and run protector. Caetano was named second-team in the Trans Valley League.
