That continues this season with junior Blake McAlister doing his part on both sides of the football.
McAlister leads the Titans with 847 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns, adding another 15 receptions, 210 yards and two scores in the air. On defense, he has 35.5 tackles with 10 of those going for a loss, two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.
“I take the same amount of pride in offense as I do defense,” McAlister said. “Everyone of us has a job to do and the other 10 guys are relying on me to do my job.”
South Central Calhoun looks to move one step closer to the UNI-Dome when they face off with South Hamilton this Friday night. The Titans downed Dike-New Hartford to advance last week, 30-22.
“We knew going into (the Dike-New Hartford) game it was going to be a dog fight,” McAlister said. “But coming out on top definitely felt good and boosted our confidence rolling forward.”
McAlister capped off the win with a game-ending interception, just one of several key moments that turned the tide in the favor of the Titans.
FINAL: @scc_titans 30, Dike-New Hartford 22.
Game sealed. @bmcalister_4 captures the interception to end a helluva game. Wow.
The Titans, who improve to 7-1, advance to the Round of 16. The Wolverines end their season at 6-3.#iahsfb pic.twitter.com/Btb0TLMPKa

“Whenever there’s a big run or big stop, that’s like lighting fire for the whole team,” he said. “Everyone seems to feed off of it and play just a little harder.”
Oh, and he’s also the punter for SCC, averaging 39 yards per kick.
The multi-threat role that McAlister plays started several years back for the team with Kody Case. The current University of South Dakota standout shined as both a receiver and running back in the offense.
McAlister’s brother, Chase, followed, and now he is excelling in the role under SCC head coach Bryan Case.
At 6-foot and 165 pounds, McAlister has great speed and vision on the field. He is a standout in several sports for the Titans including on the wrestling mats.
