Collinsville is one of those programs that seem to be in the mix every single year in Class 5A. Not only are the Cardinals in the mix once again but the future is very bright as their top three players are all juniors. The Cardinals are 8-0 and ranked #3 in our latest 5A rankings, behind only Carl Albert and Bishop Kelley. Collinsville got our attention early on in the season when they absolutely demolished Skiatook 49-7. From that point, we knew that the Cardinals were for real. We got an opportunity to see the Cardinals in person on Thursday night when they traveled to Tulsa to face Memorial in a district clash. The Cardinals would roll to a 70-6 victory. They led 35-0 after the first quarter and had touchdowns from their offense, defense and special teams in the opening frame. While they obviously didn’t get much competition on Thursday, it was an opportunity for us to see Collinsville’s Big 3 of 2022 prospects in Andrew Carney Andrew Carney 6'2" | LB Collinsville | 2022 State OK , Brayden Gilkey Brayden Gilkey 6'0" | 215 lbs | RB Collinsville | 2022 State OK and Oscar Hammond Oscar Hammond 6'3" | WR Collinsville | 2022 State OK . We have breakdowns on all three below.

has certainly emerged as one of the breakout stars of this 2020 season. He’s arguably the biggest playmaker on this Collinsville team and he’s been a big surprise in Class 5A. When the Cardinals got out to their fast start and grabbed our attention, it was Carney that was putting up some monster numbers from the quarterback spot. Carney is a terrific athlete that is holding down the quarterback position for the Cardinals. He can make some pretty impressive throws but there’s no doubt that he’s an athlete and can tuck it and run whenever he feels the need. That might be his best quality at the position. When it comes to what he could end up being as. college prospect, he might end up at a different position. However, if he continues to progress as a passer, he’ll continue to jump up the rankings as a duel-threat quarterback prospect. We’re excited to see how far Carney leads this Cardinal team in the playoffs.

was the one that we knew the most about coming into the season. As far as being a college prospect, we really like what Gilkey brings to the table on the defensive side of the ball at linebacker. It also helps that he has a strong wrestling background. That also encourages us to see him on the defensive side of the ball. Collinsville’s wrestling program is one of the better in the state. Gilkey certainly uses a lot of those tools in his physical play on the football field. On offense, Gilkey is an absolute bruiser of a running back. But it’s his abilities on the defensive side of the ball that should be under the spotlight. Oklahoma’s 2021 and 2022 class is absolutely loaded at the linebacker position. Because of that, Gilkey is somewhat under the radar as a prospect right now. As Collinsville continues to win and make a run in the playoffs, that should and probably will change.

in this group? In our opinion, Hammond has the highest ceiling of all three of the prospects on this list. According to head coach Kevin Jones, Hammond has grown almost six inches in the last year or so and has become the go-to target in this Collinsville offense when they’re passing. Standing 6’3, Hammond is an absolute athlete that is getting more and more comfortable in his role as a big target receiver. In the blowout win over Memorial, Hammond touched the ball three times. Two catches and one punt return. All three were touchdowns for the Collinsville big man. Again, the Cardinals weren’t challenged like they will be in the next month. But whenever the Carney needed to just throw it up, Hammond came down with it. He was also able to show off his speed on the punt return as well. Hammond is a prospect on the rise in a hurry.
