Today we take a look at Blythewood’s senior group.
Blythewood finished 5-6 last year and is coached by Jason Seidel but don’t let that record fool you as they return a strong senior class to keep an eye on.
Their top rated prospect is wide receiver Joshua Burrell Joshua Burrell 6'2" | 210 lbs | WR Blythewood | 2021 State SC (6’2, 212) who committed to Florida State back in May of 2020. Burrell had offers from around 25 schools and among them were Arizona State, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and many more. In 2019, Burrell finished with 57 catches for 950 yards and 11 touchdowns to earn Class AAAAA Honorable Mention All-State honors. The stats are impressive but his skill set is even more impressive with good size, strong hands, ability to win in the red-zone, and good blocking skills. While he is not super twitchy or quick he is a possession target who will usually come down with the ball when you throw it his way. We currently have him as the #3 wide receiver in the state and #5 overall prospect in the state.
Defensive back Jordan Burrell Jordan Burrell 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Blythewood | 2021 State SC , Joshua’s brother, is another very highly thought of prospect who is not committed but has received offers from App State, Army, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, Campbell, Florida Atlantic, Marshall, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and several others. The 6’0, 190 pound safety has the tools and range to make plays in the box or drop and cover the deep zone or flats. Burrell is a pretty good tackler with awareness and range to make plays all over. We have Jordan Burrell Jordan Burrell 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Blythewood | 2021 State SC ranked #26 overall and the #4 defensive back in the state.
They have two more prospects who both play on the offensive line with one already boasting several offers while the other only has one.
Next on the list is left tackle Ryan Frans Ryan Frans 6'3" | 300 lbs | OL Blythewood | 2021 State SC (6’3, 299) who has the size and body type to play guard at the D1 level but could stay at tackle if he plays FCS or D2 football. He has the ability to pull and locate targets. The tackle also has the ability and nasty streak to finish his blocks and put his opponent on the ground. The agility and quickness is limited and he isn’t as explosive as your typical D1 lineman on tape but if he has a strong year he should get some D1 offers and worst case be a star at the D2 level. Frans is our #4 offensive lineman and #31 overall prospect in South Carolina.
Last on our list is a player to keep an even closer eye on. All-Region left guard Trevor Timmons Trevor Timmons 6'2" | 275 lbs | OL Blythewood | 2021 State SC (6’2, 280) is a little shorter and lighter but he has a lot of upside. Timmons can pull and move very well but just needs to fill out his frame and get stronger. If he can become more consistent and develop physically then he has a chance to significantly move up our board. Timmons is a typical FCS or G5 type player who could develop enough to look like an ACC or SEC guard in 3 or 4 years from now. He currently has offers from Illinois, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Navy, and many FCS schools. We have him rated #6 offensive lineman and #37 overall prospect in the state.
