De Soto vs Leavenworth
Two high powered offenses from class 5A square off on Friday as the Leavenworth Pioneers (2-2) play the De Soto Wildcats (5-1). De Soto has averaged 41.67 points per game so far this year and Leavenworth has averaged 41.75 including 77 last week against Turner. Leavenworth currently has a two game winning streak with impressive wins against Turner and Shawnee Heights and their defense has looked every bit as impressive as their offense as they have given up a total of 9 points in the last two games. De Soto has won four straight and scored at least 40 points in each win including 63 last week against Shawnee Heights.
Bishop Miege vs Bishop Carroll
The defending 4A state champion Bishop Miege Stags (2-2) faces the Golden Eagles of 5A powerhouse Bishop Carroll (1-1) this week in a battle between two great teams. Bishop Miege is on a two game winning streak and have scored at least 28 points in every game. Bishop Carroll looks to bounce back after a tough 37-28 against 6A powerhouse Lawrence two weeks ago where they gave Lawrence their toughest test to date. Bishop Miege looks to make it three in a row before their rematch next week against St. James Academy who they defeated 38-28 two weeks ago as they try to repeat as state champions in class 4A.
Piper vs Spring Hill
On Friday night, the 3-3 Piper Pirates will face the 2-2 Spring Hill Broncos as both teams look to make a late season push for a playoff spot. The Broncos have looked impressive the last two games in their 41-0 and 48-0 blowouts against Bonner Springs and Ottawa respectively. They have a powerful offense as they have averaged 37.25 points per game and they should be well rested after the last two weeks off due to the cancelled game. The Pirates are on a two game losing streak after losing to Tonganoxie and undefeated Paola so a victory this week will give them their momentum back going into the season finale against Bonner Springs next Friday.
Wamego vs Fort Scott
On Friday night, the 1-2 Wamego Red Raiders will look to end the season on a high note as they play the 4-0 Fort Scott Tigers in their season finale. Wamego has had an up and down season as they won big in a 41-7 victory against Atchison in the season opener but lost the next two against some of the best schools in the state in Paola and Bishop Miege. Fort Scott has looked great on both sides of the ball as they have averaged 25.25 points per game while giving up 14.25 points per game. A victory for Fort Scott would give them an opportunity to finish the regular season undefeated going into their final game next week against Coffeyville.
Paola vs Eudora
The 6-0 Paola Panthers play the 2-4 Eudora Cardinals on Friday night. The Panthers are ranked near the top or at the top of the 4A rankings and average 48.5 points per game. In addition to having an impressive offense, their defense is very impressive as well as they have given up 16 points per game but have only given up 30 points in the last 3 games. Eudora although 2-4 are better than their record indicates as they suffered tough losses against 4A powerhouses such as Louisburg and Tonganoxie, The Cardinals looked impressive in last week’s 29-3 win against Ottawa. Their defense has only given up 17 points in the last two games and they will face a tough test in Paola’s offense.
