The impacts they are making off the edge, up the middle, or in the back half of the defense jumps off the tape. There is talent to go around and these 10 players were some of the best from this past week. They perfectly illustrate what Wisconsin high school football has to offer! The stat lines they have to show with their excellent film are also eye opening. We have both here!
Max Sheridan Max Sheridan 6'2" | 195 lbs | DB Pewaukee | 2022 State WI , Junior LB- Pewaukee
Defensive Stat Line: 13 Total Tackles, 1 FF
We have our second straight week of watching Max fly around the field making tackle after tackle! His range is so impressive. If he can maintain that speed while he continues to fill out his frame he is going to be one of the best LBs in the state. He already packs a punch when he hits and the speed he flies through gaps with, even against against some studs on the offensive line of Grafton, is super intriguing! Max’s Week Two Highlights
Evan Ladwig Evan Ladwig 6'5" | 270 lbs | OL Plymouth | 2021 State WI , Senior DL/OL- Plymouth
Defensive Stat Line: 9 Solo Tackles, 2 TFLs, 3 Tipped Passes, Blocked Field Goal
Evan is one of the best offensive linemen in the state. However, he is also proving to be an effective defensive lineman. Especially against the run. Ladwig put his strength on display as he owned the line of scrimmage. He didn’t allow himself to be driven back and he did a great job of pursuing down the line of scrimmage to make consistent plays. Evan’s Week Two Highlights
Will Campbell, Junior LB- Kaukauna
Defensive Stat Line: 6 Tackles, 2 TFLs, 1 Sack, 2 Pass Deflections, 1 Punt Block
Big. Quick feet. Strong through contact both in the tackle and shedding blocks. Will brings a lot of talent to the table. He also does a great job of mirroring the RB that he is assigned. Campbell comes down hill against the run strong. He doesn’t get caught standing still or waiting. He is go go go all game especially against the run. Will’s Week Two Highlights
Quinn Taege Quinn Taege 6'3" | 210 lbs | TE Freedom | 2021 State WI , Senior DL- Freedom
Defensive Stat Line: 8 Tackles, 4 Sacks, 5 TFLs, 2 Punt Blocks
What a performance by Quinn! 4 sacks?!?! This guy lived in the backfield and wrecked havoc all game last Friday night. It was impressive to stop. A lot of time you see defensive linemen win with strength or quickness. Quinn did it with technique and some wildly quick hand usage. I get excited when I see a high school kid embrace the technique and pair it with talent. Quinn did that in Week Two. Quinn’s Week Two Highlights
Ahman Brewah Ahman Brewah 5'11" | 200 lbs | LB Menomonee Falls | 2022 State WI , Junior LB- Menomonee Falls
Defensive Stat Line: 9 Tackles, 2 TFLs, 1 Sack
I was live for Brewah’s week one strong performance and based off the week two film and stat line he proved week one wasn’t a fluke. Ahman’s speed gives him the ability to chase down plays from his edge spot and to bend the corner quickly while rushing the QB. My favorite part of his game is he doesn’t look lost in space. He plays confident. Ahman’s Week Two Highlights
Evan Tyler Evan Tyler 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Hudson | 2022 State WI , Junior DL- Hudson
Defensive Stat Line: N/A
I was expecting a big breakout year from Evan and that is what we are getting. After a pair of clutch sacks in week one he continued his dominant play into week two. Mr. Tyler has everything you want in a young and raw prospect. He has the height, weight, length, speed, and power you hope for. This past Friday he demonstrated how well he can engage, create separation, make a move with speed or his hands, and then make a play over and over. Evan’s Week 1/2 Highlights
Aydan Dautermann Aydan Dautermann 6'2" | 185 lbs | DB Slinger | 2021 State WI , Senior DB- Slinger
Defensive Stat Line: 1 Interception
Aydan is an intriguing DB prospect. He has the play speed you need at the next level and his reactive athleticism while in man coverage is very good. He also does a great job of reading the QB. On his interception he did a great job coming off his man when he saw the QB commit to throwing to the receiver in the slot and make the play. His play at receiver has developed his hands nicely. He had a good week two. Keep an eye on him this season! Aydan’s Week Two Highlights
Austin Dahlke Austin Dahlke 6'1" | 190 lbs | LB Edgar | 2021 State WI , Senior LB- Edgar
Defensive Stat Line: 10 Total Tackles, 3 Sacks, 1 TFL, 1 FR, 2 Interceptions
What a game by one of the best LBs in the state! He took this game over as he and the Edgar defense held Onalaska to a mere 7 points. On every one of his sacks he came through untouched. His speed made it impossible for linemen to even get a hand on him. Much less get in front of him. On the picks, he used that speed to get depth and then on one he did a good job sliding right into the passing window. His effort and pursuit led to his fumble recovery. This was the perfect game for Dahlke to show off his skills. Every strength was highlighted by a big play. Austin’s Week Two Highlights
Connor Cardell, Senior LB- River Falls
Defensive Stat Line: 5 Total Tackles, 3 Sacks, 2 TFLs
Connor has the speed coming off the edge, wow! He blends it nicely with his strength and on several plays it has resulted in him getting offensive linemen off balance and driving them back and getting the sack or tackle for loss. His initial punch is one of the strongest I have seen in the state. It looks more like what you want to see from an offensive lineman that is pass blocking. That punch gives Connor a huge advantage in his rush. Connor’s Week Two Highlights
Sam Cady, Senior DB- New Holstein
Defensive Stat Line: 3 Total Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Sack, 1 Interception, 1 PBU
Sam did it all for New Holstein. He played offense, defense, and returned kicks, including a return for a TD. Cady has the speed you need at the DB position and he is a playmaker with the ball skills to create turnovers when given the opportunity. Sam can make an impact at every level of the defense, and that isn’t easy to find. Sam was a hidden gem for me that I will be following along with this season now. Sam’s Week Two Highlights
