Top Running Backs of 6A District 8
With the 2020 season started, I’m spotlighting Running Back prospects from every classification in Florida. Today we look at the 6A District 8 area which is loaded with talent from the St.Pete/Clearwater area. Big time players and some under the radar prospects are spotlighted below!
Markese Norfleet- Northeast c/o 23
Norfleet is a fantastic sophomore running back prospect. In a game earlier this season he rushed for 305 yards and four touchdowns. He’s a silky-smooth runner that has excellent cutback ability, burst, and quickness. Norfleet has home run hitting speed and and outruns defenders with ease. This guy has the potential to be a highly rated prospect when it’s all said and done.

Antorio Willis- Northeast
5’8 170lbs
Willis is a nice north-south runner who shows patience and vision, but despite his size also has good power and runs through arm tackles consistently. He’s built low to the ground and his size gives him the ability to hide behind as lineman and pick his way through the hole, he’s also very good in the passing game and can be used on third downs.

Chris Phillips Chris Phillips 5'7" | 160 lbs | RB Gulfport Boca Ciega | 2021 FL – Boca Ciega
5’9 172lbs
Phillips is rated a three-star running back and has over 14 offers, including power 5 offers from Iowa State University and USF. On a team where he’s the main focal point he could have two thousand yards rushing in a season, however he shares the load with two other highly rated running backs. As a runner he’s a quick-twitch athlete that has top end speed, acceleration, agility, and excellent balance. Philips explosiveness leads to a lot of big home run style runs. He also has ability in the passing game. Phillips is one of the best running backs in the state of Florida.

Bam Collins- Boca Ciega
5’9 170lbs
Collins has a low center of gravity and runs with surprising power for his size. He does a good job of shaking up defenders to keep them off balance. Shows a good stutter step in the hole and has terrific vision. Has the ability to catch out of the backfield.

Darrell Lee- Boca Ciega c/o 22
5’9 180lbs
Lee is the third part of the three-headed monster for Boca Ciega. There’s not a lot of film on him, but he’s definitely a great sleeper prospect being that he’s only a junior. In the film I did see he’s used in the passing game especially on screens, showing good hands, cutback ability, and picks up tough yards. He shows some vision and burst when catching the ball and has the ability to pick up chunk yards.

Avery Tucker Jr.- St. Petersburg c/o 24
5’9 181lbs
Tucker is really nice freshman prospect that has really good start and stop ability, weaves his way through holes, and runs with surprising power for his size and age. He also does a good job pass blocking, he shows advanced ability in this area and picks up blitzes nicely. He’s a very versatile player that also excels on special teams and kick coverage. I think he will turn out to be a special player in this area by his senior season.
