Lawrence vs Olathe North
The 5-0 Lawrence Lions have been at the top or near the top of every 6A ranking so far this season. After impressive wins against very tough opponents St. Thomas Aquinas and Bishop Carroll in their last 2 games, the Lions will travel to Olathe on Friday night to face the very impressive 4-0 Olathe North Eagles. The Lions are led on offense by the soon to be Kansas Jayhawk RB Devin Neal Devin Neal 5'11" | 210 lbs | RB Lawrence | 2021 State KS as well as QB Jackson Dooley who has looked great as a passer this season. The Eagles are led offensively by QB Noah Palmer Noah Palmer 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Olathe North | 2022 State KS and RB Aquantez Love and Jacob Parrish. All of whom have looked great this year at their respective positions. Olathe North has averaged 35.4 points per game and have only given up 10 points per game on defense. Lawrence has averaged 45.4 points on offense and have given up 15.2 points on defense. With two high powered offenses as well as two outstanding defenses, it should be a great game to say the least.
Olathe East vs Mill Valley
An awesome showdown between a 6A and 5A powerhouse will take place on Friday night. The 4-0 Olathe East Hawks will face the 4-2 defending 5A state champion Mill Valley Jaguars. Olathe East has averaged 36.75 points per game and given up just 12 points per game on defense. Mill Valley has averaged an impressive 48.67 points per game while giving up 18.67 points per game with impressive wins over Derby and De Soto earlier this year. Olathe East is led offensively by RB Ma’rrell Fountain who has proven to be one of the top RB in the state as he plays with tremendous speed, athleticism and heart averaging well over 100 yards per game and is a threat to score a TD every time he touches the ball. Mill Valley is led offensively by QB Cooper Marsh who returned last week against Olathe West in a 69-14 blowout victory after an injury. Cooper Marsh is a very talented dual threat QB who is an effective passer but also possesses the athletic ability to scramble for large gains and can score TD with his arm and his legs with ease. This game should be a great matchup featuring two teams that are heading in the right direction and are in contention for a state championship.
Manhattan vs Topeka West
On Friday night, The 3-3 Manhattan Indians will face the 1-2 Topeka West Chargers in a battle of two teams who are trying to build momentum late in the season as they both won in a high scoring close game last week. Manhattan is 3-3 and won 32-31 last week against Washburn Rural and Topeka West won 59-58 against Highland Park. A win for Manhattan would put them at over .500 and they would take a 2 game winning streak into their season finale next week against Emporia. A win for Topeka West would be a real confidence booster for the team going into their season finale against Topeka next week where they would have an opportunity to potentially have their first winning season since 2005. Manhattan offense has been effective this year as they have scored at least 21 points in every game so far including 42 against Topeka a few weeks ago. The offense of Topeka West came up big last week as they scored the most points since scoring 56 against Highland Park in 2018.
