Here are six talented Kansas wide receivers looking for their first college football offer.
Xzavion Martin, 6’0”, 175, Newton – Martin is a senior looking for his first offer. So far in 2020, he has 26 receptions for 420 yards. Martin has found the end zone twice for the Railroaders. He is an excellent route runner, who somehow seems to lost defenders. He can lineup in the slot or on the outside. He would be a solid addition to an NAIA or JUCO program.
Jordan Zahn, 6’1”, 185, Seaman – Zahn is having a productive season for a dynamic Seaman Vikings squad. So far this season he has two touchdown receptions and caught five balls in a balanced Vikings offense. He is averaging 17.7 yards on six kickoff returns. He is a solid downfield blocker and is used as a blocker in counter and trap running plays. He projects as a solid JUCO recruit.
Soren Carr, 6’1”, 160, Goddard — Goddard has an offense that likes to throw the football. Carr is second on the team with 21 receptions for 332 yards. He trails fellow classmate Jake Shope, who does have a college offer in hand. Carr has scored eight touchdowns. He is a solid positional receiver who is deserving of looks from NAIA and JUCO programs.
LJ Butcher, 5’11”, 165, Pittsburg – Butcher makes me think on Mickey’s line from Rocky II, “What we need is speed – fast, greasy speed.” That’s one thing that the Purple Dragon senior is not shot on. He is a fast young man and a weapon that Pittsburg should target more. He has nice hands and is tough to stop once he gets in space. He is a solid JUCO prospect.
James Eaton, 6’5”, 190, Tonganoxie – Eaton is a newcomer to football, but he is a big target who can catch the ball. Eaton started playing football his junior year but has moved into a starting role for the Chieftains, after an injury in front of him on the depth chart. Easton has 5 catches for 106 yards and at 6’5” could also play tight end. He is not afraid to go across the middle of the field and is dedicated to playing at the next level. Eaton works hard in the classroom as evidenced by his current 3.32 GPA.
Kyun Jackson, 6’3”, 189, KC Sumner — Jackson is a talented senior who unfortunately lost his senior season to COVID-19 related closures by the school district. During his junior season, he caught 49 balls for 796 yards, He had seven touchdown receptions to go along with one defensive and one special team touchdown. He is a big target with a long reach. He has had conversations with FCS and DII programs.
