While positions such as quarterback, running back, receiver and defensive backs are perhaps the most popular positions for college coaches to show the most interest, there are other places that continue to make a lasting impression.
For the defensive ends and linemen, this is the perfect time of year for those quality performers to make a name for themselves.
Today, we take a look at five defensive standouts who are impacting football programs from Pensacola to Key West, and everywhere in between.
2021 – Colt Brown, DE, Daytona Beach Seabreeze. Another of the many under-the-radar talents that has had an amazing season for a program that is truly on the rise. Among the sack leaders in Florida, he recently picked up three more in a loss to longtime rival Mainland. He has tremendous size (6-2, 235) and is a leader on the field. Has helped to set the tone for the future of this program.

2021 – Sam Cooper, NG, Tallahassee North Florida Christian. If you love to watch football and focus on the line of scrimmage, here is someone that you need to check out. A two-way lineman, who recently had an 86% blocking grade with two pancake blocks in a game, he is also impressive as a defensive lineman – that also collected 10 tackles, three tackles for loss, and forced a fumble in a win. He also holds down a 4.0 GPA in the classroom.

2022 – Mario Eugenio Mario Eugenio 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Tampa Gaither | 2022 State FL , DE, Tampa Gaither. Make no mistake, this is definitely one of the top prospects for the Class of 2022. A versatile football player who has size, athleticism and can play the defensive end position or even outside linebacker, although he continues to grow. In the final week of the regular season, he had six sacks, nine tackles including seven for loss, and forced a fumble in a convincing win.

2021 – Dajavon White, DT, Cocoa. There are a number of reasons to like what head coach Ryan Schneider and his Tigers are doing, but when it comes to the defensive line, this is a program that can boast one of the best round, and with this impressive football talent, very few offenses will dictate play with this strong and athletic lineman, who also plays running back and linebacker, so you can understand what a tremendous talent he is.

2022 – Jorge Torres, DE, Lake Worth Park Vista. While it has been tough for everyone across the state when it comes to playing football and getting attention, you can understand this young man and Palm Beach County, which has only been competing for three weeks – and while it is always tough to make up for that lost time, he has done some positive things – such as his two fumble recoveries, which included one for a scoop-and-score in a win.
