There are some great games this week as we head toward the second round of the state playoffs, but are there really any better match-ups than Miami Northwestern and Plantation American Heritage?

This rematch of last year’s second round game – when the three-time defending state champion Bulls beat the Patriots, 23-20.

Many who have followed these programs this season believe that we are in store for a defensive effort – as both teams are loaded with Power 5 prospects and football talent that will be making an impact for years to come

In this crazy season, both teams have played challenging schedules in the few games that they have been able to actually get out on the field and perform.

The Bulls arrived at tonight’s game with wins over rival Miami Central (21-14), Miami Palmetto (17-7) and Key West (28-20), and a 49-14 setback to national powerhouse, IMG Academy.

The Patriots came up with wins over Chaminade-Madonna (7-3), Clearwater (24-0), Jacksonville Bartram Trail (35-10), Venice (41-26), Cardinal Gibbons (23-17) and Palm Bay (49-0) last week. They dropped games to 3A power Jacksonville Trinity
